What would business would you want in Freeperville?...how would you while your time?...
To: antaresequity
I will counsel new Freepers in how to live a good, upstanding conservative life...be someone's loving wife, volunter, and bake cookies for my children. I would have a big open yard for all the neighborhood children to play in...and I would be able to continue homeschooling....

Wow. The listing fees are going to be hellacious.
To: mlmr
You'd make a great neighbor.

I have a midwestern heart here in cold cold Maine...and I am not talking about the weather either...
Years ago I tried to start a co-housing community. It went flop, but it was a nice dream. I always have dreamed of a wonderful community to raise my children in...as a matter of fact started a thread a while back and got so good leads.
Wouldn't it be fun to have an old fashioned neighborhood?

Put an = sign before the item number.

Wow. The listing fees are going to be hellacious. Unless there's a Real Estate Broker involved there are no "listing fees".
To: lewislynn
Depending upon who buys it, I have a feeling a new "endangered species" will be found there after the auction.

Forget it. I bought it. San Francisco too! Since California has an annual budget deficit of $34 billion, bottom dwellers and slugs like me and that Carleton feller that insomniacs see every night on cable television have bought up the whole state.
There ain't much doubt that our property will decline in value, but, then, we are using some one else's money.
Hope you don't mind that it is your money.

If any Freeper buys Bridgeville, I will gladly take the job of city attorney...
Meega, Nala Kweesta!

Unless there's a Real Estate Broker involved there are no "listing fees". When you put something up for sale on eBay, are you not charged a fee? And when you sell it, are you not charged a percentage of the final sale price? I know I am charged. How do I get around this? Or are there different rules for "real estate"?
To: Bloody Sam Roberts
Sorry, I'm not familiar with e-Bay.
I confused your "listing fees" with real estate listing services...My mistake, I stand correted.
To: Bloody Sam Roberts
Not only do I stand correted, I also stand corrected.
To: lewislynn
Dang! You had me all excited. I thought that you had a way to get around those pesky things.
I've been eBay'ing for years and never heard of a way. Usually they aren't too bad. But on a multi-million dollar piece of property...ouch!
To: Bloody Sam Roberts
It's free listing day on ebay today, but you better hurry...
To: redlipstick
Hmmm. Didn't know that. I just got a new 19" monitor for Christmas from my father-in-law. (FR is lookin' huge tonight!) Think I'll put up the old 15 incher up for bids. (No dirty comments please.)
Thanks!

So if you owned a town, would you be like the dictator mayor and get to collect all the taxes for yourself (and the upkeep of the town, of course)? Would you get to attend the annual mayor's convention?
Would you get to be the police chief, and issue yourself a concealed weapons permit and attend the police chief's annual convention?
To: lewislynn
Bridgeville is about 50 miles SE of Eureka on hiway36 and have been there many times I don't know what the final bid was but 1.6 million ia a real stretch. And who pays for cleaning up the underground gas tanks and all the heating oil tanks and failing septic tanks.
The pair that bought the lumber town of Samoa across the bay from Eureka got 80 rental units, a going B&B and commercia property nearly on the beach only paid 2.5 mill. Oh yeah, the world famous Samoa Cookhouse was included.
To: lewislynn
I looked up Bridgeville on the Ebay search and it looks like every bloke & his dog is trying to sell something using that name!(Everything from heat pumps to penis enlargement!)He HE!
