If I recall, YOU posted what you called a rant. Your RANT speaks volumns. If you wish to be known as a Bush republican partisan, just say so. This forum is for CONSERVATIVES. Perhaps there is a pure republican site more to your liking.

I was just informed of the following and I want to know if it is true:

"you should know that on another thread, he admitted that he actually thinks the USA would have been better off if Thurmond had been elected President in 1948 on the blatantly racist Dixiecrat platform!"

I would appreciate a "yes" or "no" answer.

Many of the facts about this fiasco have been ignored. I found this article that just might shed a little light on the seemingly "racist" statement made by Lott.

So you are saying you cannot be a Republican and a conservative? How nice of you! I am sure that Jim would appreciate knowing you are asking Bush Republicans to find another site.

Your link does not work! Lott IMHO cannot be defended for his remarks.

What I find offensive to me is the all-court press that the RATs and press did to try and get him to resign from the Senate. Resigning as Majority leader was one thing but to try and oust him from the Senate when you have Byrd, Murry, and clinton running around was reprehensible.

As expected, you've (re)opened a raging debate here, over paleoconservatives, neoconservatives, etc.

You'll hear more support for Lott from BrandX conservatives who have no grasp of political reality. They seem to have a death wish for the upcoming political agenda.

Of course Lott was shafted for things he didn't actually say at Strom's party, but he then demonstrated a tone-deaf ear to the issue of race. He kept piling on himself with his embarassing groveling. He was clearly compromised and couldn't seriously lead an argument with ANY racial overtones, and there are many upcoming which they(we) strongly support.

Textbook "cut your nose..spite your face." And yes, Pubbies must react strongly to the race-baiting. With T-Lo gone, we've strengthened an already strong argument.

Phi...

You do seem to have a penchant for reading things into other peoples postings. Perhaps this is where you are having a problem.

Very well stated! And something people should read and think about!

Read what others have to say in the above articles and think before voicing your continued support for Lott!

With all due respect, I don't need to read what others think. Lott should have defended himself, and he should have been defended by others the minute this ridiculous charge of racism emerged from the mouth of Jesse Jackson, on the one hand, and the still-pissed-from-impeachment conservatives on the other.

Worst of all, George Bush took an opportunity to humiliate Lott in public, a reprehensible thing for one human being to do to another.

I'm not going to argue this with you, as Lott did himself in with his silly BET interview and deserved to be cut loose after that.

The cravenness of Republicans that caused them to buckle to the race pimps was an ugly sight.

How long will it be before the unappeaseables among the GOP sour on Bill Frist because he's not sufficiently confrontational to Tom Daschle? It won't be long, that's for sure.

I have been around here for years while a lot of people have come and gone. I came on here as a Bush supporter -- check my sign on date, and I will continue to be a Bush supporter. If you don't like that, fine, but nothing says I cannot be a conservative and a Bush supporter. If you use that logic, then we cannot support any candidates running as Republicans. We can only support candidates running on the Conservative ticket -- do you know who that would be that run for House and Senate?

Thank you for your posting of this article and the comments of other prominent conservatives. Lott had to go and I am glad he is gone. He is not the face of the Republican Senate that I want. The RATS and the media thought they would just damage Lott and that they would be able to use him to paint the Repubicans as racist and evil. It didn't work out that way, thanks to President Bush and Karl Rove. I respect both of these men very much. Karl Rove has been loyal to this President for the past 27 years...the only ones that hate him are the ones that also hate the President.

Answer me a question please? Did you support Trent Lott as Majority Leader?

As for turning on Frist, seems a lot of folks on here are not willing to give him a chance. As for embarrassing Lott, give me a break -- he did a good job of embarrassing himself by going on TV with all of those apologies. How about Lott lying to my Senator or to other Senators in the past about his intentions.

Lott did this all by himself and to defend him and want him as Majority Leader speaks volumes. Lott was inept, weak, and now cannot learn to shut up! Read the article about how he went from his remarks to being an apologist. Even Lott didn't stand up for his remarks!

.......
No he didn't.......

But please link me to the story your talking about. So I can read it too.

On a lighter note. I hope you had a wonderful holiday and I do wish you a very good and happy New Year!

Some sanctimonious, self righteous republican socialists on FR

No need to get nasty now. It seems you are the one getting a wee bit emotional when someone calmly issues an opinion with which you disagree.

You seem to have opinions and thoughts about political procedures. Perhaps you might recall who was the first sitting president of the United States that hand picked the majority leader of the senate?????

As for Ann Coulter, there is a lot I disagree with her on in the past in articles and on TV.

A December wedding in San Diego! I'll bet it was lovely.

Please read the Coulter column and see if you think she says Lott should stay--I and others tried to tell certain posters that, while she deplored the glee of the dems' reaction, she thought he should go.

I don't get to vote on that. Only Republican Senators get to vote on who their leader is.

I didn't like some of what Lott did, but, then, I didn't like some of what Dole did before him. That's what a leader's job involves: compromise, and angering one side or another.

As I suspected, you're one of those still angry at Lott over impeachment, and used the comments made at an old man's birthday party as reason to get rid of him.

Let's just agree to disagree over this one. Lott's gone, and Frist is next on the grill.

Thanks for replying. I was given that in my freep mail and I wanted to know it if was true.

Had a great holiday BTW! And my daughter getting married to a wonderful young man made it even better. Now I have two in the Navy -- my daughter and new son-in-law!

One more question? If Lott had stepped down on his own without the outcry of the press and RATs, would you have supported it?

Are you going to be one of the ones doing the grilling? It looks that way, sorry to say.

Actually mine goes deeper than that! Lott lied to my Senator about his intentions in 2000! That I didn't forget and yes, I wanted Lott gone even before impeachment. I never did like him as Majority Leader and didn't appreciate Dole either. I thought at the time they picked Lott he was the wrong man for the job. He was chosen by other than the conservatives like Phil Gramm, Don Nickles, Jim Inhofe, etc. which to me spoke volumes a lot time ago.

As for Senator Frist, I have supported him all along and think he did a great job as head of the National Republican Senatorial Committee. I never did feel the same way about Dole and Lott that I do Frist BTW.

Senator Frist IMO is one of the best people we have in the Senate and has some of the best aides in the Senate. I believe when it is said and done that Freepers will find Senator Frist to be to their liking.
