Who Is Destroying America?

Most Americans know that our nation is going to hell in a handbasket, but how many of us have thought about who is responsible? In my novel, The Evil Ones, America suffers through an era of oppression and misery called the Darkness.

Milestones along the way-asset forfeiture laws, judicial activism, public land grabs, bureaucratic abuses, abortion, hate crime laws, school prayer restrictions, educational decline, gun control, political correctness, and so many others-should have warned Americans of the spreading malevolence of government power over their lives.

Who today bears responsibility for leading America into our forthcoming Darkness?

Politicians at all levels bear much of the responsibility. They have weakened our nation with their big-government, tax-and-spend, multicultural, open-border policies. They endanger our unique American concept of private property through asset forfeiture laws and public land grabs. They jeopardize American freedoms by allowing the judiciary to "reinterpret" our Constitution. They have undermined our military for political gain by allowing homosexuals and bisexuals to serve and assigning women to combat positions for which they are unsuited. They surrender our sovereignty through international treaties and the United Nations. They waste billions of our tax dollars on Department of Education bureaucrats, dollars that states should spend educating our children.

The education establishment also shares responsibility. They have experimented on our children with one new theory after another, but our children learn less and less. When I attended an inner-city grade school decades ago, all of my classmates could read and write, including the black, Hispanic, and dirt-poor children. Too many teenagers nowadays can barely read or write and know little of geography and American history. Bilingual programs divide us as a people and prevent immigrant children from learning the language skills they need to achieve the American dream. Education bureaucrats promote indoctrination rather than education, and conclude they´ve done their job if our children are "sensitive" to every politically correct and globalist issue.

Alan Caruba said it well in his review of the book, The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America in which he exposed the government's "Pacesetters in Innovation," a 584-page catalogue of "behavior modification programs" to be used by the schools:

"Let me repeat that: a catalogue of behavior modification programs! We´re not talking of programs to teach students anything. We are talking about programs to indoctrinate children passing through the system to believe in values contrary to those on which this nation was based.
"In brief, the intention was to create a generation or two of Americans who would accept the United Nations, not the United States, as their new 'nation,´ a global nation, one-world government."

Universities have turned into centers of anti-Americanism, globalism, and socialism, and leftist professors impart those beliefs to their naïve young students. After four years of nonstop leftist propaganda, it´s no wonder so many students pick up a leftist tinge by the time they graduate.

It gets scarier. In an article in UNESCO Journal, The Impact of Science on Society, influential leftist Bertrand Russell wrote: "Every government that has been in control of education for a generation will be able to control its subjects securely without the need of armies and policemen." Sure, brainwash them in school, and they´ll follow Big Brother without question.

The major media are the chief propagandists for the leftists in America. They share responsibility because their liberal propaganda, disguised as reporting and editorializing, promotes America´s creeping socialism, our loss of Constitutional rights, moral relativism, and gun control, among others. They (along with their education cohorts) have undermined the sacred institution of marriage by "celebrating" every "lifestyle" from homosexuality to transgenderism, and even publishing homosexual partner "celebrations" alongside marriage announcements.

The judiciary shares responsibility for "reinterpreting" the Constitution, legislating from the bench, and creating rights where there are none. State courts in Florida and New Jersey blatantly overrode state election laws. A federal court (sometimes called the Ninth Circus Court) in California banned the words "under G-d" from our Pledge of Allegiance and ruled that Americans have no Second Amendment rights. Leftist courts have banned school prayer and public Christmas displays, forced busing on millions of children, and allowed racial preferences and the burning of the American flag. One outrageous ruling was Roe v. Wade, in which the Supreme Court created a mythical right to privacy to justify killing an unborn baby up to the moment of birth. PBS Online observed: "while individual rights are considered the cherished base of U.S. law, the Constitution does not mention the right of 'privacy´ anywhere. Justice Harry A. Blackmun, who argued the idea of privacy rights when he penned the Roe v. Wade decision, could not use any specific sections of the Bill of Rights or previous court rulings to explain his argument."

Federal and state bureaucracies that champion the rights of fish, birds, insects, and animals over humans also share responsibility . They destroy communities and jobs, drive farms and businesses into bankruptcy, and seize land indirectly by declaring private property as "wetlands" or harboring "endangered species."

Celebrities undermine America with their leftist and hate-American public statements. They share responsibility for the decline of morals in America. When they openly live together and have babies without benefit of marriage, publicly revel in their homosexuality, take drugs, or break the law, they become destructive role models for our youth.

Radical environmentalists, animal liberationists, one-world-government fanatics, gun controllers, and other leftist groups share responsibility for destroying America as we knew it. They have also disrupted communities, eliminated jobs, kept us energy dependent on foreign oil, and even endangered our lives.

But the final responsibility rests with us, the citizens of this great nation. Malicious people slowly bleed the life from our beloved country, and we do nothing about it. We should at least fight back by staying alert, informing other Americans, and letting the offenders and our representatives know exactly how we feel.

LOS ANGELES - I am going to talk of controversial things. I make no apology for this. It's time we asked ourselves if we still know the freedoms intended for us by the Founding Fathers. James Madison said, "We base all our experiments on the capacity of mankind for self government."

This idea? that government was beholden to the people, that it had no other source of power is still the newest, most unique idea in all the long history of man's relation to man. This is the issue of this election: Whether we believe in our capacity for self-government or whether we abandon the American Revolution and confess that a little intellectual elite in a far-distant capital can plan our lives for us better than we can plan them ourselves.

You and I are told we must choose between a left or right, but I suggest there is no such thing as a left or right. There is only an up or down. Up to man's age-old dream-the maximum of individual freedom consistent with order or down to the ant heap of totalitarianism. Regardless of their sincerity, their humanitarian motives, those who would sacrifice freedom for security have embarked on this downward path. Plutarch warned, "The real destroyer of the liberties of the people is he who spreads among them bounties, donations and benefits."

The Founding Fathers knew a government can't control the economy without controlling people. And they knew when a government sets out to do that, it must use force and coercion to achieve its purpose. So we have come to a time for choosing.

Public servants say, always with the best of intentions, "What greater service we could render if only we had a little more money and a little more power." But the truth is that outside of its legitimate function, government does nothing as well or as economically as the private sector.

Yet any time you and I question the schemes of the do-gooders, we're denounced as being opposed to their humanitarian goals. It seems impossible to legitimately debate their solutions with the assumption that all of us share the desire to help the less fortunate. They tell us we're always "against," never "for" anything.

We are for a provision that destitution should not follow unemployment by reason of old age, and to that end we have accepted Social Security as a step toward meeting the problem. However, we are against those entrusted with this program when they practice deception regarding its fiscal shortcomings, when they charge that any criticism of the program means that we want to end payments....

We are for aiding our allies by sharing our material blessings with nations which share our fundamental beliefs, but we are against doling out money government to government, creating bureaucracy, if not socialism, all over the world.

We need true tax reform that will at least make a start toward I restoring for our children the American Dream that wealth is denied to no one, that each individual has the right to fly as high as his strength and ability will take him.... But we can not have such reform while our tax policy is engineered by people who view the tax as a means of achieving changes in our social structure....

Have we the courage and the will to face up to the immorality and discrimination of the progressive tax, and demand a return to traditional proportionate taxation? . . . Today in our country the tax collector's share is 37 cents of -very dollar earned. Freedom has never been so fragile, so close to slipping from our grasp.

Are you willing to spend time studying the issues, making yourself aware, and then conveying that information to family and friends? Will you resist the temptation to get a government handout for your community? Realize that the doctor's fight against socialized medicine is your fight. We can't socialize the doctors without socializing the patients. Recognize that government invasion of public power is eventually an assault upon your own business. If some among you fear taking a stand because you are afraid of reprisals from customers, clients, or even government, recognize that you are just feeding the crocodile hoping he'll eat you last.

If all of this seems like a great deal of trouble, think what's at stake. We are faced with the most evil enemy mankind has known in his long climb from the swamp to the stars. There can be no security anywhere in the free world if there is no fiscal and economic stability within the United States. Those who ask us to trade our freedom for the soup kitchen of the welfare state are architects of a policy of accommodation.

They say the world has become too complex for simple answers. They are wrong. There are no easy answers, but there are simple answers. We must have the courage to do what we know is morally right. Winston Churchill said that "the destiny of man is not measured by material computation. When great forces are on the move in the world, we learn we are spirits-not animals." And he said, "There is something going on in time and space, and beyond time and space, which, whether we like it or not, spells duty."

You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness. If we fail, at least let our children and our children's children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done.

Recall Bubba's address beginning "my fellow citizens", and Algore's "sacrifice in service to the United Nations". Both brought so much heat they were not repeated, but were "trial balloons".

The distributors of child and adult porn,period.I read of a case where a 6 year old perfomed oral sex on a classmate.This is not natural,this is learned.It is time to shut down the smutt shops on the internet,Can we get a crusade going on this matter?
