Hooah! (^;

From my WWII desk calendar for January 3rd:
On this day in 1943, Allied forces report that they have retaken most of New Guinea, and the remaining Japanese resistance on the island is trapped in "hopeless" positions.

I love reading this. Question: did the disgusting, phlegmy-eyed, bulbous-nosed, bent one EVER sit down and eat with the troops? (Not that they would've wanted him there.)
To: Ragtime Cowgirl
Hooah
I believe 'huzzah' is the appropriate term. I've always found this a mysterious tradition, and sure enough Webster's lists its etymology as 'unknown'. But's it's a very old tradition in the army, a way for the ranks to pump up the officers (and themselves). Surely there are Freepers more knowledgeable than I on the subject.....

I thought this was the best part of his speech:
"In crucial hours, the success of our cause will depend upon you. As members of our military, you serve this nation's ideals and you demonstrate those ideals in your code and in your character. As Commander-in-Chief, I have come to know the men and women who wear America's uniform. I have seen your love of country and your devotion to a cause larger than yourself. I have seen your discipline, your idealism, and your sense of honor. I know that every order I give can bring a cost. I also know without a doubt that every order I give will be carried out with skill and unselfish courage.
"Some crucial hours may lie ahead. We know the challenges and the dangers we face. If this generation of Americans is ready, we accept the burden of leadership, we act in the cause of peace and freedom. And in that cause, we will prevail."

I hope you saw it. It was fabulous!
BTW, I pinged you on some Edwards' threads. Our worst fears realized. And I am living it LIVE here in Raleigh; the TV stations have gone 24/7.

I like that the President's going more into Iraq's threats towards our country and Israel, how they've taken it outside their borders before with their own history, their treatment of their own people who we'd supposedly harm in a conflict and the fact that Iraq is located in the region overrun by terrorists/threatening nations towards America-border by border where they move freely for the most part. He gave a great speech and it's always amazing to see the faces of the people who give so much to their country.

Edwards' threads.,,, the TV stations have gone 24/7.Here in the D.C. suburbs also. Even the Gephardt announcement caused only a minor blip. Senator Dr. Frist's great work on the accident victims got a tiny fraction of the radio news time that has been devoted to Edwards.
To: Howlin
Edwards has no doubt been schmoozing th eclymers in the press and tv for the past year. He has to be a winner, as far as they are concerned; after all, he can talk and he has "executive hair."
I think we need to find three of his most disgusting votes and publicize them. I also think that gated community is a photo-op waiting to happen.
To: Freee-dame
You know what, FD, the press has been pushing Edwards for MONTHS.....even when Edwards came up BEHIND Al Sharpton in the polls!
They must be overjoyed....one of them. Slimeballs, I mean.

Remember the "If Bush is elected, the NRA will set up office in the Oval Office" thing? I think we should go with that, only make it TRIAL LAWYERS.

U.S. President George W. Bush holds up a baby at the
conclusion of an address to troops January 3, 2003 at
Fort Hood, Texas. The U.S. Army base is the largest

Well, here's a thought to make normal people shudder: if Edwards would win, who would he put in his cabinet? Defense secretary? State? Attorney General?
Shudder. The Rats have no one competent to serve in the cabinet. We would see a combination of Clintonista and Carter retreads. Yikes!
To: Ragtime Cowgirl
What a great picture! Look at him look in that baby girl's eyes! I hope her mother sees this picture and has it framed!
To: Miss Marple
What scares me the worse is that a Democrat is in charge of Homeland Security.
To: Howlin
Don't worry about Edwards, I saw this idiot on "Meet the Depressed" a few months back and he doesn't have what it takes. When the time comes for the media to stop plastering this pretty boy on every news show, His record will be looked at and there is NOTHING there. He has never been out front of any issue, He hasn't intoduced any legislation, His only real contribution to any of the issues was to fight for unlimited compensation for bogus law suits.
This smarmy "Follower" has nothing to offer and has nothing to campaign on. Those who want to compare him to the "Bent one" are not doing their homework. X42 was a governor and was in the public arena for 16 years before he succesfully set this nation back 100 years after 8 years as the POTUS.
John Edwards is an ego-maniac who thinks he is something he's not.
