Well, Laura Ingraham is pushing it on her web site. I'd say it's probably positive.

Hard as it is to imagine now, for center-right Democrats who were frustrated with their national party, Jimmy Carter was considered the last hope. Walter Mondale was a generally anti-communist Cold War liberal, not yet somebody aligned with the New Left. Many "neo-cons" who were still Democrats backed the Carter-Mondale ticket in 1976. It was when they became disgusted with the administration that most of the holdouts flocked to the GOP, supporting Ronald Reagan in 1980.

"He was tart, not sweet," charges Frum.
Piquant.

Drudge is a funny dud (I mean "dude!") 8-)

He can't even quote an entire sentence (""dearth of really high-powered brains") to back up his main point that this book has infuriated the White House.

The guy has been riding his Tripp scoop for what seems like decades now.

I wish him well, but he makes Newsmax ("here's our recap of an article somebody wrote for yesterday's NY Post") look cutting edge.

I wonder if this particular speech writer was the lurker that quoted a few Freepers? May explain why Freepers haven't been quoted in a while.

Overall, the book does show the administration in a positive light. It's a pro-Bush book. But all these guys who come out of the administration to write books like to add some counterintuitive observation and settle old scores with people they didn't get along with.

This is the second "book" thing I've seen Drudge do. The other one was a dud. I'm presuming this one will be, too.

However, I notice the same people pushing this negative stuff about Bush, and not just on this thread. All over FR.

Hey, I don't really get why people get so upset with drudge. I think it has to do with the conflict that he sets up between reporter and commentator. That is, people who are fans of his views expect his reporting to follow suit.

I used to have a radio show in CT while I was personally involved with politics, and I ran into the same thing. This is a legit story. The first guy to print these quotes, and the first one to report that the White House is pissed. Just my thoughts, anyway.

You favorite senator is on CSPAN right now. He said he was against school vouchers. That was a shock. He wants to repeal the tax cut for the top 1% in order to have more money for national security. How bold of him.

Is this the guy that was talked about on Meet the Press today? They kept blaming the speechwriter for naming Korea as part of the axis of evil? And what a mistake they thought this was as they lumped Korea with Iraq and now are taking a different tack with them? Oh, how the news is nothing these days.

Regardless of whether the book is complimentary or critical I think it is irresponsible for a former employee of the Office of the President of the United States to write a book about his "inside" access. Don't these clowns have to sign anything when they leave pledging confidentiality? Particularly about anything affecting national defense. I know I had to when I left the government, something about keep your mouth shut or its 5 years or jillion dollars or both. And I was a very unimportant with very limited access.

Yes you will. You know he is not going to get the nomination, and it is only a matter of time until Mr. Regular, aaka "Blinky," makes a big faux pas. Ha!

I agree. He made a big blunder on Woodward's "Bush at War", now he's trying the same trick on Frum's new book - few selected phrases to make the book sound like an anti-Bush, anti-administration piece.

They kept asking him what the "S" stood for . . .just what is a Harry S.? Ed Asner? Michael Moore?

Two excellent nominees!

Hey, I got nothing Drudge (as evidence by the following incomplete sentence snippet quoting my previous post - "I wish him well.")

But seriously, he (like Newsmax) has his heart in the right place, but their credibility as cutting edge fact-gatherers is pretty weak.

These days, Drudge just tries to spin controversial stories from previously published sentence snippets, hoping to generate hits to his website.

I'd love to share a beer or two with Drudge, but let's face facts - the guy's had one "exclusive" in his entire life. And I've long since given up hope that he'll ever have a second.
