CK was one of the few liberals that broke with the Dems in the early '80's, mostly over the Contras.He and various New Republic writers, like Fred Barnes, actively supported the Reagan foreign policy of rollback, and it caused CK to finally make his break with the Left.I think this was also why Michael Barone left being a Democrat at about the same time, even though he worked on Teddy Kennedy's campaign in 1980.

You should be reassured that Edwards is only in favor of AA (like they have at the UM, where you just get a lot of bonus points for race until the desired percentage is obtained), not quotas.
