Juror's Misconduct Lets Child Molester Walk Free

Officials Say Woman Talked About Case With Family

DOVER, N.H. -- A man convicted of molesting a 7-year-old Dover girl is free, based on a juror's misconduct at his trial.

Wesley Taylor's original sexual assault conviction was thrown out after a juror talked about the case with her son, a lawyer, and brought their conversation up during deliberations.

This week, prosecutors agreed to allow Taylor, 34, to plead guilty and be sentenced to the time he already served, a little more than a year. He had been sentenced to up to 20 years.

Deputy Strafford County Attorney Peter Odom said he agreed to the plea, only because it would have been difficult for the victim and her family members to testify at another trial.

Taylor also was placed on probation for five years, must undergo sex-offender treatment and must reimburse the victim's family for any counseling the girl may require.

This woman should serve some time for being such an idiot.

Serving on a jury is civil duty and should be taken seriously given the nature of this case. Justice for this little girl was on the line and this women blew it by opening her fat mouth.

Couldn't the judge have held the woman in contempt of court or fine her, give her jail time, work community service, etc...

This is a shame and an injustice.

He'd be safer in jail. If he gets hurt I don't know how this juror will be able to live with herself.

What's the problem? After all, it's only about sex, isn't it? A president who molests a girl in the White House, a guy who molests a girl in his neighborhood - as long as they are both doing their jobs, who are we to pass judgement?
