[history]
The Free Republic first quarter '03 FReepathon is now underway!
Our goal for this fundraiser is the same as last quarter: $65,000. We have about $4,000 per month coming in from monthly donors so we will need to raise approx $53,000 to hit the target.
The funds raised through these fundraisers are used to pay our operating costs. Free Republic operates on an approximate $260,000 annual budget (breakdown here) and all funds are provided by donations from FReepers and Lurkers.
Thank you all very much for your continued support.
P.S. We are planning to make FreeRepublic.com email addresses available as a thank you to all who donate at least once per year. This new feature should be ready to go within a few days. We will post a notice and a link for donors to setup their FR email address as soon as it's ready.
Donate to FR and help us keep the lights on for the best political forum on the NET!

I think the following is very relevant...You don't need to treat FreeRepublic like Public Broadcasting. However if liberals can give about $75, what can YOU give?
| Average per-person contribution in current dollars |
1980 |
1999 |
| Public radio |
$24.84 |
$73.22 |
| Public television |
$30.12 |
$77.05 |

It's probably some glitch caused by adding the freepathon header.
They'll probably come up with a "donate" link of some sort...either the old one or a new one.

Start taking pictures of your favorite "pets"....freeperPet challange coming up later this week.... (details to follow)
In the meantime...remember the "old days" when FR crashed lots of times and the withdrawal...
Newbies...imagine trying to log on and find out you can't get here or communicate with your FR friends....
All of this is possible because of YOUR/OUR support....Credit card is easy...it's safe...$5.00 or $10.00 per month...less than a carton of cigs. a bottle of wine...a McDonalds dinner...will go very far to help this site...

On the Front Page where it says donations to date and the amount is a link to to the secure donation location.
I know that's not what you're talking about - but at least there is that much out front!!

Here are some donations that came in during the last week or so:
$100 from Connecticut
$20 from Wisconsin
$100 from Texas
$20 from California
$10 from Virginia
$20 from Never Never Land
$20 from Kansas
$10 from Virginia
$50 from Pennsylvania
We also have a small batch of checks that I will enter as soon as Amy gets the info to me.
And included in the totals to-date for this FReepathon is a batch of monthly donations that has been processed.
Thank you all very much!!

I am not a monthly donor. I do contribute lump sums during the Freepathons.
I assume it would make your life easier, as well as making Freepathons shorter and consume less bandwidth to become a monthly donor, right?
Or does it make any difference?

Howdy teach!!!!!
The way monthly calculations have been done in past FReepathons is that they get added in one lump some at the end of the "thon"
I don't recall anyone mentioning that policy changing.
