Could it be that one of America's most pre-eminent Founding Fathers, Thomas Jefferson, is also the "founding father" of the Right to Life Movement?

Paragraph 2 of the Declaration of Independence begins, "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness."

The ACLU had not yet "reeducated" Jefferson about the separation of church and state (barf).

Alan Keyes also pointed out that our founding fathers ensured that all elected and, if I'm not mistaken, all judicial officials are required to make an oath to protect our nation's POSTERITY. If the unborn are not part of our posterity, what is?

Sadly, the tradition of Hippocrates continues as well, the oath ultimately perverted by hypocrites.

FROM THE US CONGRESS WEBSITE
At the start of each new Congress, in January of every odd-numbered year, the entire House of Representatives and one-third of the Senate performs a solemn and festive constitutional rite that is as old as the Republic......taking the Oath of Office.

While the oath-taking dates back to the First Congress in 1789, the current oath is a product of the 1860s, drafted by Civil War-era members of Congress intent on ensnaring traitors (as follows).

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God."

NOTE: The whining, politically correct, hate-America crowd thinks we should do away with the oath-taking. Doing away with the Oath of Office in order to pander to disgruntled, religious-hating liberals would undermine our nation's highest principles and imperil national security.

It would be a good idea to remind our legislators that those in Congress who would align themselves with the initiative to ban the Oath of Office should think about seeking employment elsewhere.

To dumbed-down, disturbed liberal thinking, taking a "loyalty oath" is coercive - they associate loyalty oaths with fascist regimes.

The mention of God makes anti-religion, Christian-hating liberals behave violently. (Think of a cross held up to a vampire.)

Margaret Sanger, an ardent advocate for every imaginable form of contraception and the founding feminist of Planned Parenthood was a Catholic who became an atheist who said: "Abortion is the wrong way. No matter how early it is performed, it is taking life." Given such a statement, Margaret Sanger, if she were alive, would not be invited to speak at any pro-choice rallies today. Her use of the word "early" is particularly important in this context because it constitutes a complete refutation of the termination of pregnancy via the trimester argument, which is for some the cornerstone of the Roe ruling.

No wonder the pro-choicers hide this woman's history away.

I have argued here on FR before that violating their oath should be sufficient grounds for impeachment of 80%+ of government officials. Considering the liberals like what the government is up to, no wonder they would rather see the end of this affirmation of duty.
