I wonder if this whole deal has been simply GWB's way of getting the US out of the UN.That would be a remarkably foolish move, IMHO, which I rather doubt bears any part in this. I suspect there's a clear intent to diminish the authority of the United Nations in certain areas, but certainly not a desire to withdraw. The global backlash would be substantial, to say the very least.

Now it is the U.S. and Britain against the World. Not much different that it was during the period between 1942 and 1952.
During that 10 year period, the Vichy French in North Africa, the Germans, Soviet pilots in Korea and Chinese troops in Korea all fought in battle against America and Britain.

Okay all you bastards that wanted to sell your soul to the devil, in order to take advantage of ten cent an hour wages in China. Now you have created a monster. They oppose us on every global issue other than us gifting them with the technology to kill us.
We now have a French, German, Russian, Chinese block voting us down in the UN. Saddam Hussein must be allowed weapons of mass destruction, just like North Korea. If if these two are justified to have them, then every other terrorist state on the planet will too.
China has been instrumental in helping these nations develop their nukes. How does it feel to have aided Communist China like we have? I'd like to know how you're going to feel when North Korea, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Lybia, the Sudan and other nations in the middle east have nukes, gratus from China.
Even Canada has joined in to make sure nuclear proliferation goes global.
I do not understand you people. I do not understand Canada. I do understand China, which is something you folks don't.

I just have to take a moment to ponder the shere brilliance of you stating you are AntiGov, but that our nation should not withdraw from a non-representative world government which seeks to destroy our sovereignty and enslave you as one of it's subjects. Great call there.
The UN supports every socialist government on the planet as if they were heaven sent. Cuba, North Korea, China are all wonderful states. The US is so suspect by the UN that it sends in humans rights inspectors at the drop of a hat, in fact has children's rights inspectors in our nation constantly. By God they won't stand up to Zimbabwee or Iraq or North Korea though, will they?
Yep, let's keep playing along with this socialist organization. We've really been winning by doing so.

Perhaps I should've elaborated. My comment alluded to economic affairs, not ideology or geopolitics. The fact of the matter is that the United States economy is not structured to withstand the probable consequences of a withdrawal from the United Nations. If the U.S. desires to abandon the UN, then it must first restructure its economy accordingly. To be exact, it must prepare for the displacement of the dollar's status as global currency reserve & exchange standard. If the United States chooses to undertake the substantial alterations to our fiscal policies that would accommodate that transition, then leaving the United Nations would be effortless.
