LONDON (AP) -- Greenpeace sent its flagship Rainbow Warrior on Monday to the entrance to a port being used to send supplies to the Persian Gulf in protest of what the organization called the "headlong rush" to war by the United States and Britain.
The Royal Navy said one activist was arrested as he attempted to board a military supply ship at the Marchwood base in Southampton, southern England.
Two other protesters managed to climb aboard two merchant ships leased by the Ministry of Defense as supply vessels.
Stephen Tindale, Greenpeace spokesman, said that the United States and Britain were motivated by oil.
"War with Iraq would not make the world a safer place. It would increase support for terrorism and could lead to the use of weapons of mass destruction," Tindale said from the bridge of the Rainbow Warrior.
"The human and environmental impacts would be appalling and no one would benefit other than George Bush and oil companies like ExxonMobil."
The Royal Navy said Greenpeace's activities had not disrupted the loading of ships in the dock, including one which is to join a Navy Task Group heading for the Gulf. Police boats were shadowing the Rainbow Warrior.

This would be a great opportunity for the French to show off their awesome naval power?

Damn, you're fast--I was just going to point out that the FRENCH sunk a Greenpeace ship. I can't remember if it was the Rainbow Warrior or another ship.

I think this might be Rainbow Warrior II.
To: Indy Pendance
Maybe we should commandeer their ship to use in the campaign - we could use it to store some of the chemical/biological weapons we uncover during the "cleansing."

It is very clear that Greenpeace is more interested in socialist causes than in the environment. Here we have Watermelons!

protest of what the organization called the "headlong rush" to war by the United States and Britain. "Headlong Rush"? We have given the scumbag 12 years to disarm and he hasn't started.

I find it necessary to quote Al Bundy's Nine Commandments for enlightenment:
1.It's okay to call hooters "knockers" and sometimes "snack trays.
2.It is wrong to be French.
3.It's okay to put all bad people in a giant meat grinder.
4.Lawyers: see rule three.
5.It is okay to drive a gas guzzler if it helps you get babes.
6.Everyone should car pool but me.
7.Bring back the word "stewardesses"
8.Synchronized Swimming is not a sport.
9.Mudwrstling is a sport.

I saw the boat live on England's Sky News channel. It was an old clunker of a trawler, not the fancy one that chases whaling ships. Greenpeace must have several Rainbow Warriors for their PR stunts. They can cover more PR events that way, I would assume.

Thanks for the ping. I needed to see that picture again, about as much as the world needs Greenpeace.

This is a good excuse for the incident that causes the comment that leads to the following statement, "No! I said across the bow, not through the bow."

Stephen Tindale, Greenpeace spokesman, said that the United States and Britain were motivated by oil. That does it--drain the Rainbow Warrior of all oil and petroleum distillates and cast it adrift.
Pour it all down Tindale's throat--didn't you see the No Hypocrites sign, ahole?

Really, they should be using sails or oar power .... Like a viking ship. I can picture envirowackos rowing, down in the hold of the ship, while Charleton Heston, cracks the whip with drums beating out every stroke.
