I advocate freedom, everywhere and at all times. I'm opposed to socialism for that reason, whether it is found in the US or elsewhere.

Having said that, Canada is a friend to this country and I for one am appalled at the childish spew of anti-Canada rhetoric being used by certain people on this site. It is moronic drivel and I would apologise for them except that you can't apologise for someone else.

Please don't judge all freepers by these people.

You should check out some of the rhetoric north of the border being directed to us. Don't mistake neighborship, often reluctent neighborship, for friendship.

Our two country have peacefully coexisted for the last 150 years but it hasn't always been all that friendly. Regardless of the correctness of prohibition, Canada openly supported the criminal elements violating our borders during prohibition. Today some of the most potent pot comes from BC...well at least until 9/11. During Vietnam Canada openly welcomed draft dodgers, extending to them all rights and benefits of their own citizens. Currently some of their major ports have been declared off limits to U.S. military vessels in protect to our nuclear weapons...and for the last 50 years Canada has often condemned our militarism while allowing their own armed forces to become a joke, relying upon us for their protection (which was recently the very arguments presented by an MP) without contributing anything.

After 9/11 we asked our Canadian allies to take a more active interest in helping us. Their response? Canada refused to ask for advanced passenger manifests for international flights coming into Canada (and possibly on into the U.S.) North Vancouver, BC and Windsor, ON remain the two largest Islamic fundalmentalist communities outside the Arab nations. These communities provide regional infrastructure and logistics to Islamic activities within our borders...and Canada refuses to monitor the activities of those communities.

Last fall another MP stood up in Ottawa and said he would not blame America if it militarily invaded Canada just to protect itself...because Canada was doing nothing to assist their friend to the south.

Then we have senior members of the administration calling our President a fool to which many Canadian's publicly agreed.

We have neighbors to the north, I'm not sure they're that much our friends any more.

OTTAWA, Jan 30 (Reuters) - A left-leaning Canadian legislator, infuriated by what she calls Washington's hypocrisy over Iraq, said on Thursday she would lead a team of volunteer arms "inspectors" to the United States next month to seek out weapons of mass destruction.

Moral relativists at work. The guy does not get it. America does not have to confess to anything without due process, it is a free country and has right to silence. Canuk popularity, power and gun control against the law abiding stops at the border.

Wasn't Canada about to split up into several little countries a few years ago with autonomous regions for the natives, frenchies, etc? Maybe they should an entity for dumbasses.

enemy uniform, which in this case would be Birkenstocks

Careful now, Mrs SLB has to wear them due to bone spurs in her heels. I have a pair of rubber ones I wear in the garden. They are really great. The store we buy them at sells nothing but Birkenstock and has a "Support Our Troops" sign in the window.

She is comparing us to Saddam. If we were that evil, Canada would be in danger of an aggressive invasion. All ships on the sea would be paying the US a hefty tribute, and there would be only one navy. Instead, they feel free to poke jibes at us, to abuse the freedom we help our neighbors keep. They taunt us because we are civilized enough not to lash out like barbarians or Islamics when we hear things like that. Fine. Let the Canadian leftists make fools of themselves. And then, when the liberated people of Iraq wave US flags and say, "God bless America!", REMIND HER AGAIN AND AGAIN WHAT SHE SAID.

I think they have an advantage in that they have long cold winters to stay indoors and practice Loonieness while government school educated Americans have no clear goals or the guts to perservere.

It's amazing how well the US does DESPITE our lack of good education. Part of Canada's problem might be similar to Russia's: idle time. Idle lips are the Devil's mouth piece. [Solomon] People here on the FR [including Canadian freepers] are busy doing things, seeking knowledge, working on counter-spin, etc. Many Canadians generally have no clear goals during the long winter months. That is the path to evil.

"We're following Bush's lead and demanding that the U.S. grant our inspectors immediate and unfettered access to any site in the country," said Rooting Out Evil organizer Christy Ferguson, adding the group would soon send a formal inspection request to U.S. Defense Secretary Donald

Some more names for your Fifth Column file. Though this one's in Canada, I imagine they are funded by/allies with/offshoots of the IAC or some group already active here.

This Canuck does not take offense. Canadians need to be shocked out of thier lethargy from time to time and that process is underway in spades right now. Idiots like this must be exposed and not be elected to positions of authority in the future. Our system of Governance, like yours, also allows for the voice of the lunatic fringe and they do elect some of their leaders to Parliament. If you ever wonder why this fragmented Country, responsible for the 2nd largest land mass in the world, it's population spread in a narrow strip and huddled in City states along our common boundary, 30% of whom are French speaking dissidents, continues to work, has never had a civil war and provides one of the best standards of living in the world, it is because nutcases like Shrek Davies are in the House of Parliment venting thier spleens and not in some beer hall.(and with a little help from Uncle Sam whom most Canadians admire, love and respect)It is only politics after all and Americans are becoming aware of our differences and our similarities which far outweigh the former,ALL because of 9/11, imagine that.
As Colin Powell said yesterday to Foreign Minister Bill Graham ..." see ya later Buddy"

Despite whatever problems someone has with some of the people and some of the policies, it is never helpful in my opinion to alienate whatever friends we have there (and here on freeRepublic) by lumping them all together and vilifing them. If they are to be judged by this person, we are to be judged by Clinton. And I refuse to take responsibility for him.

I'm happy you don't take offence, but you were lumped in with her and vilified, not included with the people referenced above.

You are right, idiots must be exposed, even those on this forum.

If Canadians tuned into FR in mass numbers I might be concerned. Since the majority of those Canadians who do tune in are hoping that we liberate them after we liberate the Iraqi's, I don't seem much need for caution.

You will understand my last post. Bill O'Reily was reading e-mail on his show yesterday when he read one from a Canadian asking to be liberated by the U.S.

Personally, I wouldn't mind liberating the western half except for Vancouver/North Vancouver. I think now would be the best time to launch such an attack if we're going to do it. From what I understand Canada's western defense forces lost the keys to the tank so the west is wide open.

We are going to liberate Canadians from their oppressors? From their elected government?

Advocating attacking Canada?

Gosh I'm proud to be in the same country as those with opinions like that.
