I don't know. I'm not so sure it was the CIA that spawned the fundamentalists groups in Afghanistan. I think OBL spawned them as a reaction to increased western presence in the region ( because of the pipeline)

Interesting : I posted a review of this book about 2 weeks ago and got FLAMED because I dared to report that both Republican and Democrat administrations had screwed up - and screw up they did !! We sent Billions of dollars to these people - trusting Pakistan to administer the funds. The Saudis, who had Wahabi Muslim ( Islamic fundamentalists who are virtual twins to the Taliban ) cells operating in Pakistan and Afghanistan , matched the billions we supplied.
