Well, here are the details as we know them. The North Korean 'Radiation Sciences Research Institute' (at Yongbyon) where this will all be taking place, has the capability of going through nearly 160 tons of spent fuel rods annually, with a production capacity from between EIGHT AND SIXTEEN plutonium based nuclear weapons (representing 50 to 100 kilograms of weaponized plutonium). That is if the reactor is powered up and running normal. And that is what they have done as of this week. However, the plant was down (apparantly, who knows?) for eight years, so at best it might take from 3 months to a year to be fully on line. 8000 spent rods have already been extracted, which gives them nearly 50 kilograms of plutonium.
