What CobaltBlue does not understand is the cause of the conflicts during the last decade in the balkans. He doesn't realize that the war was forced on the Serbs by the descendants of Hitler's allies. It was a direct continuation of the battles that ended in 1945 with the end of WWII. The Croats, Bosnian Muslims and Kosovo Albanians were more than loyal allies of Adolf Hitler. Their goals, ideology and traitorous behaviour during the 1940's and the 1990's were the same. What he's lamenting about is that the Serbs were actually defeating those resurected Nazi-allies at the begining of the conflict in the 1990's. Untill NATO rescued them from total military defeat. They were protected by Hitler and used the Wehrmacht-umbrella to commit genocide. Sad thing is, that NATO choosed to play Hitler's role nowadays in the balkans.

What you're excluding is the fact that Croatia was led by those who fought Hitler, men like Bobetko and Tudjman.

There were some rightwing nationalists, yes, and some crimes were committed. But to equate them to the Ustasha doesn't make sense as the bulk of them fought the Ustasha.

Nothing in the Balkans is black and white. That's for certain.

You're also excluding Serbian Chetnik collaboration, particularly in Bosnia and Croatia.

Mihajlovic (is that the correct spelling?) was the least tainted by collaboration, as he actually fought the Germans.

The further West you went, the deeper the collaboration was.

The Chetniks under Djujic had as their leader a man who was a disciple of Ljotic, the collaborationist leader of the Zbor party.

Collaboration occurred on all sides.

The Serbs of Croatia and Bosnia fought both as collaborators and resistors.

Parallels to WW2 don't work.

be seeing you,
