Reminds one of the story of the guy who goes to the bar and sits down next to this hot looking girl and trys to pick her up. She tells him she is a lesbian. He replies that he is also a lesbian!!! Interesting factoid - unlike (presumably) gay men, there are a fair number of young women who "experiment" with being lesbian or bisexual at least. Then in their mid to late twenties they become hetero. My personal suspicion is that the biological urge to have children gets stronger and stronger and they realize that the best way to do that and to raise the kids is to have a man. So they date guys and drift away from their female "gay" friends. I don't cite this from any studies, just -- personal observation.

Again from my personal observation, among women those to tend to become gay and stay that way were either sexually abused as children, or belong to that minority of women that kind of look like men (and I don't necessarily mean ugly.) Otherwise, it seems to be a "phase" they can grow out of. And most do.

Any female FReepers can comment on this from their side of the fence.
