Possibly because if anything N. Korea is a Chinese not a Russian puppet and N. Korea has told Russia, Japan and S. Korea to shove it.

Thanks for that timely post. I appreciate it. I think Putin is a lot more savy than a lot of people give him credit for. He has siddled up to China, but I'm not convinced he's as big a chum as they think.

Fine, but it's the US who keeps sticking to the N. Koreans. It would be easy enough to blockade the country and that's it.

By the way: secular governments don't mean that Islamics don't come to power: note Pakistan and Turkey and Indonesia.

No, that was Clinton. Dubya's been trying to get us out of the web Clinton wove. He had obligations made by Clinton that he had to honor. As soon as it was apparent that NK had not honored it's pledges, it freed us from that committment. Personally, I would love to get our guys out of there. SK has been nasty, there is no reason for us to put them at risk for an ungrateful people.

Ok, that's just stupid. N. Korea is a dangerous neighbor to Russia's border...Iraq is a debtor nation to Russia and the government the US is putting togather is vocally screaming that it won't hold up any contracts from the previous government....what do you think..if Russia started a war with Saudi Arabia, formed a "democratic" government to replace the autocrats that America loves there and the new gov promised to kick out all US firms....hmmm no special interest lobbying in DC to stop that...

Wrong, get this through your head: Chechnya is nothing more then Texas trying to succeed from the US...it's part of Russia. Russia should instead be getting ready for war with Saudi Arabia, another rogue nation that America always protects and makes excuses for...even when the Saudies bitch slap their American servants around...or did you miss 911?

Yup, why Russia is still banned from competeing in US markets because of a law on jews, aimed at the Soviet Union...please, if Bush wanted to, with a Republican Congress, he could remove this, he hasn't and won't....just like that promise of his to get US troops out of the Balkans...no wonder the saying goes that US partisan politics ends at the border.

Is this a threat from the newly freed communists? Or maybe they haven't change their spots after all.

There is no doubt that N. Korea got this idea of trying to upstage the freeing of the people in Iraq from our so called "communists" friends.

Sure would like to have all their contacts in this country traced, let's not forget how pleased the dems were when N. Korea started making noise.

Alexander I had a good saying to his son Alexander II....Russia has only two allies: her army and her navy...all others are jealous of what she has or afraid of her and will betray her, trust no one.

He couldn't have been more right.

"even when the Saudies bitch slap their American servants around...or did you miss 911?"

Indeed. But let's not forget the Gulf War, where Bush senior decided to leave Saddam in power because the Saudi's told him that an American (infidel) removing a Muslim dictator from power was unacceptable.

This, in my opinion, is why we lost the Persian Gulf War.

*flame suit on*

Look even Germany and France are screwed up in the head on this one. Russia was a long time ally and trading partner with Iraq. It's only reasonable to expect them to object. They did the last time too.

Germany and France are really dirty on this one. That's why I'm so disappointed in Putin. I understand his position re: Iraq but I thought he'd be smart enough to just withhold his vote or to stand alone. The fact that he's standing with Germany and France means that he, and Russia, will be tarred right along with them when the truth comes out. I thought he was smarter than that.

S Korea is quite capable of defending itself...US forces are there just as much to keep the south from invading the north as the opposite. N. Korea should be blockaded...nuclear tech is not that easy to smuggle with a concerted effort. Look at it from Russia's point of view...Kim Song Il is nuts...agreed, but he's deviously nuts...so does Russia need to have another nut job aimed at her? No and since the US insists...hell, demands, to be in his face, let America handle him....and while we're on it, would it not be better to have one or two stable world leaders that at least have some sway with the nut job then none at all?

You are right, the Saudies control their white N*ggers in DC and the worst part is that's exactly how the say it. I worked with a French lt colonel who is an engineer. After the war, his unit stayed in Kuwait to demine it. At the fairwell ceremony, the Kuwaiti foreign minister gave a speech that thanked the French for being such good Kuwaiti slaves. He hates the Arabs, let me rephrase...dispises the Arabs to this day.

Let's remember that the Saudies did not allow the US to use their bases against the Taliban, whom they were giving money to all that time...and have blocked all investigations and has not stopped funding fanatics...why does the US protect the Saudies? The very people that have gouged the US on oil, while the US pays $10 billion a year to defend them...and the Saudies now have WMD too.

Want an alliance with Russia? What better target for joint live fire exercises then Saudi Arabia?

US sticking it to the N. Koreans is utter nonsense.

The US has made many mistakes in its history, most of which come from who we put into office. Unfortuantely, too many in this country have been seduced by the idea that government is to take care of them. You know the communist way.

N.Korea is nothing more than a puppet, of China and or Russia. If the S. Koreans don't get their head out of the mud then I say pull our troops out and blow up N. Korea and let the newly free and prosperous, blooming Russia pick up the pieces for once in their history.

Putin exposed himself for what he was and is and will always be, a communist and he is not happy that he can't go toe to toe with the only remaining superpower, so what does he do go to a couple of half wit leaders and sounding so grand trying to tell us what is what.

You keep referring to how bad this country is and all the wrong we do and have done, I suggest that if you find it so horrible here then you take a trip to Russia and find bliss.

>>>...Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov said Sunday North Korea may pose a greater threat than Iraq...

Ok -- so why don't you just go ahead and handle it?

This started out as a UN problem. How did it morph into Just a US problem?
