He's so right he's wrong
Palm Beach Post ^ | February 10, 2003 | George Bennett

Conservative entrepreneur and provocateur Gene McDonald of Boca Raton often gets a rise out of liberals and Democrats. But he recently ran afoul of the organizers of an A-list conservative confab headlined by Vice President Dick Cheney.

McDonald, who markets in-your-face conservative stickers, T-shirts and other paraphernalia through his www.0cents.com Web site, was a vendor at the 30th annual Conservative Political Action Committee conference in Arlington, Va. Along with anti-United Nations, pro-gun and anti-Democrat offerings, his wares included "No Muslims -- No Terrorism" stickers and an "Islam: Religion of Peace" image with a swastika replacing the S in Islam.

CPAC officials told McDonald to remove his Islam-themed merchandise. McDonald said a conference organizer told him Cheney's staff had gotten wind of the stickers and voiced disapproval.

McDonald, a former Palm Beach County Republican Executive Committee member, said "No Muslims -- No Terrorism" doesn't slam all Muslims, but "it slams the Muslims who did 9/11."

Some people seeing the stickers might not make that distinction, McDonald conceded. But, he said, bumper stickers aren't supposed to be subtle and "I want to push the envelope. I want to get on the edge with political satire."

Now I remember clearly and unfortunately, I see that mushroom cloud and the little girl with the flower. I've often wondered if I actually saw the commercial when it ran that one time or did I see if afterwards.

I suppose they'd say that this is an outrage too:

Anyone ever see articles on the hateful graphics/stickers available from the left?

Look at the items from www.akpress.org. This is the face of the anti-globalism/antiAmericanWar movement:

(stickers)
"Bark If You Love Jesus"
"I Don't Know If God Exists But It Would Be Better For Him If He Didn't"

(t-shirts)
"Bomb The Mall"

"Class War - We Have Found New Homes For The Rich"

"Talk Is Cheap"

"Whitey Will Pay"

When the leftists are taken to task, then the PC-police can censor free speech.

The 'No Arabs - No Terror' bumper sticker has been popular in Israel for years.

I think I'll go buy one.

The mushroom ad was an attack on Goldwater and the left supposedly revised this ad in their antiwar rhetoric this year.

Actually that ad is more commonly referred to as "Daisy".

There is an old documentary of political ads titled "And If I'm Elected" (compiled for HBO in the 1980s, released on video) that was hosted by the Smothers Brothers.

It showed ads for all political perspectives and from a number of campaigns. The left ran some other scare ads against Goldwater as well (things with the KKK).

The Clintons just picked up the ball for LBJ.

The mushroom ad was an attack on Goldwater and the left supposedly revised this ad in their antiwar rhetoric this year.

It was in commercials co-created by our old fiends at moveon.org, the online petition site that said it was just about making sure Clinton wasn't impeached, but then became a springboard for Democratic campaigns against GOP figures in the impeachment process (primarily the House Managers).

The "Daisy" ad was created to imply Goldwater was going to push the red button despite the fact that the only President that has ever authorized the use of a nuclear weapon in combat was a Democrat (Truman).

Here's what I think of MoveOn, from January 1999: ''Censure and Move On'' site: Activism For Dummies

No, I never was able to use that design.

The graphic's resolution was too low (going by memory here!)

I do remember asking you about that graphic.

Great pic, IT. I remember you taking it. (My better half was elsewhere at that moment)

Decent smile, gut sucked in at proper moment, lotta gray though!

You know, the Salon.com gal had it right - a jolly, gray haired guy from Florida!

Ah, a blast from the past.

FWIW, moveon.org financed the campaign of a Palm Beach County teacher against Rep. Mark Foley. It failed.

Many of my own follicles gave up the ghost as soon as they felt the first trickle of gray pigment. Others appear to have succumbed to existential angst.

Yes, you are a bit further down the "follicle challanged" path than I.

However, I have been making up the distance quite rapidly within the past year!

Lately, I've been asking totally bald men how they shave or maintain their baldness. Mining for tips for that inevitable day.

I've asked Darlie several times what she would think if I totally shaved my head.

Everytime I've asked her that, she cracks up laughing uncontrollably.

Not sure how to interpet that yet.

WAY TO GO, GENE!!!

I wish I could have been there, but mommyhood has a way of keeping me at home! *grin* I'm hoping I can make it for next year's CPAC.

I did notice that the "D.C. Media Hor" did a hit and run. Typical and pathetic!!
