CNN is covering this now saying we the people need to take responsibility to prepare ourselves.
CNN is mirroring your thread.

Appreciate the info, and my kindest regards to you and your son.
We all need to be more aware of our surroundings, and think about the things we would need if society were disrupted... I'll admit being less prepared than I used to be, mostly because we lack the money needed to lay in supplies- but we keep basic weaponry, medicine, auxillary lights and radios- stuff like that- handy.
My fallback plan ( since we live in a wooden house in a small city, which is virtually indefensible ) is to retreat to my wife's workplace, about 25 miles out in the country.

Yeah, I'm just amazed that the goobermint is promoting the breaking of their own stupid hoarding laws . I brought this up on a different thread also. Sorry for the stalking. They have so many laws they starting to trip over their own socialism and sedition.
I strongly suggest self reliance for each individual and their families. National emergency or not. Legal or not......

The biggest issue is just having some plain old horse sense about this. We are all too eager to fasten on to the "sugar tit" of the government for this all most other issues. Publik Schools come to mind.

I'd sure rather be prepared, than have to depend upon the government for any help during emergencies. Thanks for the ping.

Love the title...Thanks, Howlin- I wrote a lot of ad copy years & years ago, and sometimes you hit one out of the park with a couple of descriptive words, and sometimes your cleverest phrase lays an egg and flops flat on its face...

Regarding sealed rooms, this was sent to me:
CARBON DIOXIDE (CO2)caution
Never exceed a CO2 percentage in a room by 3%. To determine how long you can stay in an enclosed room use this rule of thumb formula: length x width x height of room in feet x .03 (number of people in room) = Safe Stay Time (SST) in hours.

Advice please from my fellow freepers.....my hubby has been deployed, Im all alone.....I live in a small village outside a town of 50,000.....I am really not too worried and plan to follow some of these tips.....should I be more concerned(for myself) and start preparing *a room*.....?

I have to run, but briefly, the closer you are to a city whose name is well-enough known to garner a lot of publicity if attacked, the higher your odds of being in danger. JMO, doesn't sound like you need to prepare a room. Supplies for a power outage are always wise to have on hand, however.
