The Is-There-A-Run-On-Duct-Tape-Yet? thread
2-11-03

Posted on 02/11/2003 10:56:58 AM PST by BurbankKarl

Has anyone bought plastic and tape as mentioned by Tom Ridge. I am sure some hard core Freepers already have it, left over from Y2K. I remember reading stories how the Israelis had all this stuff at the ready.

When is the Hajj over? When does Hajji come home? Will MSNBC run a Countown to Hajj ticker?

Maybe we should tape Gravis into his chair.

Sealing your windows and doors, even marginally, possibly WILL help if you happen to be in an area that is outlying from the major concentration of the attack or in a drift zone.

We were in Europe when Chernobyl blew. Radioactive fallout was measurable over most of western Europe within a few days.

A crate of ammunition and something to shoot it is much more useful, in my opinion. Then you never have to worry about having enough duct tape -- if someone else has some, just help yourself.

I just got in from WalMart here in East Texas. There was a full endcap on the main aisle devoted to duct tape and one to plastic sheeting! I got mine....

Also wanted to pass on the suggestion to stock up on DISPOSIBLE CONTACT LENSES if needed. I ordered mine today and hope they come in before it gets weird.

Prayers to all.

This whole thing is the modern equivalent of "duck and cover".

Make that "Duct and cover!" ;o)

I hate to say it CPB, but I agree. I am really angry that these guys stand up there and tell me I can expect to die rather than just doing what needs to be done.

Nice to see that civilized discourse and behavior will survive a chem/bio crisis.

Be careful .... people that have had the forethought to prepare against this stuff will already be prepared against looters and brigands as well.

Fox played a clip of Dashole saying we needed to do more than just recommend duct tape..or something like that.
Fox saying there is a run on Duct tape.
I was out trying to find that Jihad Valentine and didn't see one person buying duct tape! ;-)

I was in a Northern Tool and Equipment store today, *not* buying duct tape. Judging from the stacks of duct tape still on their shelves, the kind of person who goes to that store already has plenty on hand. I know I do.

I thought I should by some Rat Shot, just in case we're invaded by the French.

What a waste of money. Just show them that you've got a weapon - shotgun, rifle, butter knife...doesn't matter...and they'll surrender.

Get this...

Gas went from 1.55 to 1.79 today here in Mn.

Well, at the 1 station that was still 1.55, the lines were long, some were coming from the opposite way, trying to cut in front, horns were blowing, 2 people were arguing as I left......

Geez, is this crap happenning elsewhere...???????

Here in the DFW area its been raised 2or3 cents per day for the last week and a half. My favorite station has gone from 1.27 to 1.57 in that time.

Almost three years ago, shortly after my divorce, my middle step-daughter was taking French in Junior High School. Her teacher was quite the Francophile, and Jenniffer (yes, two f's) asked if I knew any good French jokes. So I told her this one:

Why is the Champs Elysee lined with trees?

Because the German Army likes to march in the shade!

She called me at home that night and told me that, for some reason, it made her Francophile French teacher very angry.

I agree. I've ranted here several times on what a dumbbell Fatso Tommy Ridge is. Every time he opens his stupid mouth, the DOW drops another 500 points!

Maybe you should invest in duct tape.

When I used to keep my duct tape and heavy plastic sheeting in the car, the cops looked at me funny.

When I brought it in the house, my wife looked at me funny.

Does Tom Ridge really know what he's doing?

I can't belive I just read your entire post and took notes. This world has come to a hell I never wanted to imagine me or my family living in. I am literally being told by my government to stock up on supplies in case of a bio or radio attack.

Yet the easiest way to help prevent this is not happening...close the fucking borders.

Remember the days of the Cuban Missile Crisis when the schools had disaster drills? In my area, they told the schools in Pittsburgh to send the kids walking towards Philadelphia. The kids in Philly were told to walk towards Pittsburgh, hehehe.

Kind of reminds me of those days in the fifties where the kids were supposed to get under their desks at school.

I remember doing that. Made sense to me. Of course, I had been less than a mile from a one-kiloton explosion that blew my window, blinds, glass and all across the room into the opposite wall. The house didn't collapse, but I could have been badly hurt by the flying glass. As it was, I was just out of the path of the glass.

I'll take whatever edge I can get, whether it be temporary shelter under a desk or plastic sheeting over a blown out window.

In hurricane country, it's not a bad idea to have the sheeting and duct tape anyway. Batteries and portable radio too. Last big hurricane here we were without power for seven days.

Yes, Fox Girl is right.....duct tape does remove warts....heard it myself on Tv and radio newscasts several months ago. Apparently you are supposed to cover the wart and leave it on for about a week before removing tape. Not sure if it can be used on genital warts, though. You'll have to ask someone else.

Agreed, with certain exceptions. If someone pops a cannister of gas in your yard, forget it. If you are on the edge of a plume of gas, it just might keep you alive.

And hey, I live in Texas. That next tornado that mistakes my house for a mobile home just might knock out some windows and I'll wish I had some plastic sheeting and duct tape!
