I believe we should bring home all of the soldiers buried in the American cemetaries in France. The French are showing NO respect for the sacrifices made by Americans on their behalf.

As Colin Powell said the other day about our efforts to liberate France from the hands of tyranny, "All we asked of France was a place to bury our dead."

After the contempt and outright roadblocks thrown by France in our quest to secure our future and protect our citizens, they no longer merit the honor of providing a resting place for US Servicemen, who died liberating their country.

Have you been to our cemitaries in France in June?
The Frogs may have contempt for the United States, but they take better care of our war dead than we do, frankly.

Every school child in the area is assigned a grave. They learn the story of "their" G.I. and on June 6 they manicure his grave and place a small American flag on it.

I wish to God we treated our war dead buried in this country as well.

Better would be to withdraw ALL our troops from French and German soil, and stop paying these weasels for real estate where we house our defense of them! Let the weasels soak in their own bile.

If we were to do that, I believe that soldier's death was in vain. They are proof that they fought and gave their all for a cause, worthy or not.

I would think that an appalling development. Those soldiers fought and died for that land - where they should rest in peace as a testament to their time of glory.

One of the best-kept secrets of World War II was that the U.S. didn't exactly "liberate" France. In fact, the Vichy government was the legitimate government of France at the time. The U.S. simply supported one faction in France against another.

For a variety of reasons, most of the French were quite content having a government in cahoots with the Nazis.

They fought for Freedom and for the Freedom of the French People. If we had fought for the land, we would have a state called Franceland.

No, my suggestion is not 100% serious. But maybe the French need a diplomatic "slap-in-the-face". They pulled out of NATO back in the 60's yet still want to maintain veto power.

I don't recall the French volunteering their help in hunting down Al Queda.

I don't believe that will happen to the French. Their government has recently implemented an extensive array of "family friendly" policies, which has created a 'baby boom' in France. French women now have the highest birthrate in the European Union, at a rate of 1.9 children each - very close to their replacement rate. Actually, they're probably somewhat higher than replacement levels, now, because of the low infant mortality rates and quality of health improvements.

Heard Rush tell a great story today.

Tom DeLay was having a discussion with a Frenchman. They couldn't agree. Tom stopped talking and then said, "do you speak German". The Frenchman said, "no?"

Tom said, "Thank you very much!" and walked away!!

I can confirm your observations regarding the cemeteries. The same is observed in Belgium. When I was on travel to the SHAPE facility, I would drive up to the Air Force base at Chievres to go to the PX. There are a few cemeteries along the road. The roadsides were covered with cars parked next to the cemetery. The graves were covered with flowers. All of them. The French and Belgians do remember what the U.S. G.I.s did to liberate them. Their governments have become filled with socialist trash.

Nonsense. Germany occupied all of France after the US and Britain landed in North Africa in November, 1942. That ended the Vichy Government. There was no Government of France until almost two years later, when the Allies recognized De Gaulle's Organization as the Provisional Government of France in October, 1944.

In addition, the portion of France liberated first (Northern France) was not part of Vichy, but under German occupation. Vichy only included southeastern France.
