TAX FAVORITISM for the Nature Conservancy approved by a committee in the Senate!

WHO is in charge in the Senate? It used to be the Democrats, now it is the Republicans. But it really does not make any difference - BOTH PARTIES will cater to powerful interest groups and SELL OUT your private property rights - unless you act!

SEE BELOW - Bill List top priority - Democratic Senator Max Baucus (D-MT) and Republican Senator Charles Grassley (R-IA) propose huge new benefit for the Nature Conservancy and other land trusts - at the expense of private property owners, communities and other charities.

GOOD NEWS: Several new conservative Senators have joined the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. They are expected to support the new Chairman, Senator Jim Inhofe (R-OK), in his efforts to restore common sense to environmental regulations. They are Senators Craig Thomas (R-WY), Wayne Allard (R-CO), John Cornyn (R-TX) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK). Thomas and Allard are longstanding Champions for private property rights, while Cornyn and Murkowski are freshmen who are expected to support Inhofe. Murkowski served in the state legislature, and is the daughter of retiring Alaska Senator Frank Murkowski.

The "EPW" committee has long been a nest of leftwing activism. One of Hillary Clinton's first acts as a Senator was to sign up for the committee, where she joined other extremists like Senators Barbara Boxer and Harry Reid. But now it looks as if Senator Inhofe will have several allies backing him as well, so there should be lively debate on this committee!

BILL LIST

Here is the Bill List for the 108th Congress, which began in January of 2003. All legislation that was not signed into law by the end of last year is dead, and must start all over again, beginning with the bill being introduced in this new Congress.

As we proceed through the next two years, updates, additions, deletions and adjustments of various kinds will be made to the Bill List.

First are top priority bills - legislation which is moving now and where action is required. Then the entire list follows.

You are encouraged to THANK the sponsors of the good bills and try to "re-educate" sponsors of the bad bills - especially if you live anywhere in the sponsor's home state. ALSO, tell your Congressmen and Senators about the legislation that you support and oppose.
============================

*** TOP PRIORITY ALERT ***

TERRIBLE LEGISLATION - TAX FAVORITISM for the Nature Conservancy and other land trusts!

S.256, Sections 106 and 107!

Here is the FIRST bill out of the chute that is moving in Congress that impacts private property rights. It has ALREADY been approved by the Senate Finance Committee, on February 5! It is a 25% tax cut on capital gains of land sales - but only if the land is sold to an environmental group or to a government agency! Private parties, or non-environmentalist charities such as churches and orphanages are left in the dust - they can take a hike!

This would hand over to the Nature Conservancy and other already wealthy land trusts, a nearly insurmountable advantage of up to 25% when competing with private purchasers for property. It would be devastating to family businesses attempting to keep property in private hands through sale to relatives. It will take more land off the tax rolls, damaging the tax base of rural communities in public lands dominated regions of the country. And this proposed tax advantage does not apply to churches, orphanages or other non-profit charities when purchasing land! ONLY land trusts and government agencies!

WORST OF ALL - even though it is technically a tax break for the SELLER of the land, all it will benefit is the BUYER, if the buyer is a land trust! HERE is why: the land trusts can and will reduce their offers for land purchase. They will have up to a 25% advantage when bidding versus private parties, because of the tax benefit to the seller. So the seller will get a smaller sale price, reducing his tax benefit, while the land trust spends less money. AND that is assuming that there is even a private bidder, once the Big Green Machine has worked over the landowner with threats from the Endangered Speices Act and other laws.

HERE IT IS: Incredibly, this is part of the Faith-Based Initiative legislation heading through Congress. So a bill designed to help charities to help people has quietly had this provision tacked onto it by multibillion dollar land trusts for their own selfish benefit! OF COURSE, this has been done with NO PUBLIC HEARINGS. The land trusts prefer to work in the dark, behind closed doors.

ACTION ITEM - SHINE THE LIGHT on this attack on private property rights, and this hijacking of the Faith Based Initiative. S.256, Sections 106 and 107 - "The CARE Act of 2003" - the entire bill deals with a variety of tax deductions, it is Sections 106 and 107 of S.256 which has the free hand out for the Nature Conservancy. TELL your Senator and Congressmen to take out Sections 106 and 107 from S.256! Defend private property rights - land trusts should not get special tax breaks that churches and orphanages do not get in the "Faith Based Initiative!"

===============================

GOOD BILLS:

House:

HR 51 (Cox, R-CA), HR 57 (Dunn, R-WA) - the bills differ slightly, but both propose permanent repeal of the estate tax, also known as the Death Tax. The Death Tax is a major factor in breaking up family businesses. The Nature Conservancy and the other multibillion dollar land trusts just love the Death Tax, because it allows them to hover like buzzards over family ranches and farms. They dangle conservation easement tax breaks in front of families when they have their backs against the wall financially, due to owing the Death Tax because of a death in the family. Think twice, and look very carefully at the fine print before making a land trust a co-owner of your land! Senate companion bills are S 96, S 169.

HR 67 (Flake, R-AZ) - Disaster Area Exemption Act. Temporarily exempts federally declared disaster areas from the endless environmental regulations and appeals which hold up aid for families and cleanup.

HR 353 (Duncan, R - TN) Dispose of all Bureau of Land Management lands recommended for sale back to private property by the Department of the Interior.

HR 460 (Hayworth, R-AZ) - Study the prevention of wildfires. Senate companion is S 32. Senate:

HR 701 (Paul, R-TX) Will restore to the original owners certain lands that were seized by the federal government in 1940 for military use, and not returned even though they have not been used by the feds for many years. NOTE: You may recall that HR 701 was, in the previous two congresses, previously the bill number of the "CARA" multi-billion dollar land grab bill. Now in the 108th Congress, thanks to Ron Paul, it stands for citizens getting their land back!

The Nature Conservancy works to attract NGO and charity funds to implement the UN BioDiversity charters while allowing large corporate entities to buy up rural tracs of land and trade with the BLM for prime real estate.

Example is railroad land in CA which was claimed about 1 -4 sections out of every 36 in California Desert when it was originally surveyed over a century ago by the Railroads.

Railroads still hold the land, but have swung deals with the Nature COnservancy to buy up all tracts in remote areas which were privately held, then swap with the BLM for BLM River front property along the Colorado.

Public disclosure has been kept to a minimum. If you happen to catch a public anouncement in fine print in the back section of a county newspaper, you might become aware of what's happening, but even those 'in the know', frequently aren't cognizant of actual legal events in the proceedings.

BLM Maps differ from county maps delineating ownership and even county tax records in many cases are a bit convoluted.

The real enforcement seems to come from socialist liberal environmental groups after groups like the Nature Conservancy has taken legal actions in procuring the properties. Then sundry environmental groups, Dept of Int, Parks, State, EPA seem to gain interest in finding ad hoc interests in the properties.

Over the years there also seems to be relationships in the Nature Conservancy with financial dealings with foreign interests. Seems as though the paper held on those properties is used as collateral for funds in money markets. Environmental regulations seem to prohibit their use by onshore concerns, yet foreign interests seem to be able to walk in and develop the land for resources with little to no impediment.

IMHO, At best, the Nature Conservancy strikes me as a Monopoly exemplifying the worst level of greed, and at worst , merely one of a number of socialist mechanisms to invade American territory.

I say this after originally believing they were an honorable cause,...it took alot of convincing for me to realize they deserve considerable scrutiny.

George, you are a communist and I spit in your radical left wing eye. What one owns or how much one owns is not material to the debate. Property, large and small, is the property of the owner. None should criticize the posession or the posesser.

George, thanks for the post. Nature Conservancy is just another name for control of the land by outsiders (government, foreigners, do-gooders) and taking it away from the local community.

Long time no see.

Regards.

The thing the Nature Conservancy is famous for, is getting land by hook or by crook (blackmail, coersion, donation, land swaps, buying cheap,...however), then reselling it to the government at top dollar. They just about always sell the land for at least 2 or 3 times (or way more), than they paid. They they use that money to acquire more. They are gobbling up enormous amounts of land and making phenomenal amounts of money. This bunch is really dangerous, but people love them because they thing NC is "saving" the land. All they are is profiteers ripping off the taxpayers. If the government wants the land, they should buy it directly from the sellers. This has been allowed to go on because enviro-wackos in the government have been in cahoots with the Nature Conservancy.

LDD, Kiss my rosy red ass. This is not about Private property. This is about property of the collective Nature Conservancy in particular. A special "partner" with godgov. And you dare call ME "communist". Populist maybe, but NOT the "collective" of communism in partnership with godgov that was{?} the USSR, and IS mainland China today, and WILL be the "NWO" of tomorrow that those on the "right" call "communism"!! YOU are at best a dupe, or at worst a knowing purveyor of the "Republic" that WAS the former{?} Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and ALL of the tyranny and terror they used on their OWN for about 70 years.

THIS is about preferential treatment by godgov for godgov's favored "Partners" in the NWO. Where in the dickens did you come up with the "None should criticize the posession or the posesser.". Godgov owns MILLIONS of acres. You asshole! Peace and love, George

My oh my, Georgie. You are certainly full of your anal self. I said nothing in defense of enormous holdings by the state. Your article certainly condems private persons and corporations that have large holdings. If that is not a worker of the world view point, then I suppose I might oblige you by bussing your bum.

LDD, Assuming I let your socialist butt get that close, it might be a good beginning.

The Nature Conservancy's partnership with godgov is Hitler's and Mussolini's socialism. I am merely commenting on it. It seems you would use the fascist method of shooting the messenger of unwanted information. Check out the machinations of the conservancy yourself. Land Barons in the NWO's "new" fiefdoms. Peace and love, George.
