"If I'm asked to go . . . " You won't be asked to go, Khalil.
Just like you won't be asked to put your hands behind your back just before they put the cuffs on.

Why in the world did this guy join the Army Reserves in the first place?
To: kattracks
Given that this "solider" took an oath to defend the U.S. from ALL enemies (foreign and domestic), I'd say this idiot deserves nothing less than a full courtmartial and a dishonorable discharge.
Nufsed.

Hit the "post" button early, did we? No one has ever done that before. :)
Welcome to FR.

"Ghanim Khalil doesn't want to break the law, but says he may be forced to."
I don't think he swore to potect the U.S. from enemies of his choosing. Jail him to the maximum extent allowable. Make him return all funds he received, and remove any retirement he is entitled to.
I hate those who join and think that they can do what they wish when the mood strikes them. He signed a contract and if he does not fulfill it he stole from the citizens of the U.S.

Why in the world did this guy join the Army Reserves in the first place? Education money. He was on Fox News today.
He said something about not wanting to go to an immoral war to kill 500,000 civilians.
To: JSteff
Agree. We have civilian control of the military in this country. If you don't like that, and aren't willing to place your life on the line to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution, then don't commit perjury when you join.
There were lots of cases where President Clinton ordered military action that I disagreed with and I'm sure many service members did, too. But they followed orders, because the value of preserving our system and our Constitution outweighs any bumps in the road from the occasional bad phases of history where we have a bad CIC.
And any "Muslim" who doesn't agree with that isn't an American.
To: kattracks
Makes you wonder if there are any American muslims who would defend America.

Dishonorable Discharge simply seems to light of a punishment to me in this case.

He can get his education at the University of Leavenworth.
To: EnquiringMind
I suspect that he doesn't believe in war, but Jihad is OK.
To: Jay D. Dyson
He will plead C.O. status and get a less than honorable discharge.

He's making his bed, hope he's ready to sleep in it, or it's back to Pakistan for him and a life of trying to scratch a living from the rocky soil on half-rations of government rice and curry.
