Chirac and Shroeder have been "running" for PM of the EU so hard they forgot reality did'nt they. I believe the upcoming EU summit will be very interesting to watch. I may be wrong but, I said some time back they were trying to secure the top position and would do so by any means. I believe they played the Iraq situation as that means. Oh, yes, France has a huge Algerian problem. That's the source of much of the anti-Semitism in France. Madcelt is right, though. This is more about internal EU politics than anything else. There are those in Europe (generally French and German) who see the EU emerging as a counterweight to the US.

Of course, it isn't working like they've planned.
