It is possible to be freed from sinful addiction.I couldn't agree with you more. Human history is full of examples.

Wow, what an article. This woman provides a fabulous witness to the SSAD community. Through the grace of God, all things are possible--even the cure of this difficult pathology.

i think i have to disagree with you guys on this one. a person is born with their sexual orientation, it's as much a part of them as their eye colour or height. i respect that you don't necessarily condone it as a lifestyle especially those of you who say you don't hate the person but only the relationship they are in. I sure don't agree with you, but I know that I cannot change your mind. But when you start labelling it a mental illness or a pathology that is where you lose my respect. Schizophrenia is a mental illness; obsessive-compulsive disorder is a mental illness; depression is a mental illness. Homosexuality is not. That's like saying that having brown eyes is a mental illness. And saying you are a 'converted' homosexual is like saying you've been 'converted' from having brown eyes. You can hide your eye color with contacts or something, and you can be deeply in denial about your sexual orientation (this is why a lot of homosexual people are very homophobic before they come out). but you cannot change your sexual orientation.

I keep hearing that identical twins where one is homosexual, and the other is not, are not uncommon. If so, it would seem to demolish your argument.

I went to my 15 year high school reunion a few years ago and got re-acquainted with an old friend. He confessed to me that he was homosexual but a devout Christian. Turns out he was a 33 year old virgin, having decided early that if he couldn't be straight he would at least not commit sodomy. Then I heard from him a year or so later that God had helped him overcome homosexuality and he was now seeing a woman. I haven't heard from him in a long time now, I wonder how he's doing. I don't have his e-mail addy anymore, though.

Well, that's your opinion. Sadly, it's wrong. Even if homosexuality were genetic, that makes it no different from many other mental illnesses which also can have a genetic component. They can be treated. So can SSAD.
Of course, the most successful method of treating homosexuals is through the Grace of God. Pray for them. I do.
