Thanks. I turned him off right at 5PM as I closed my shop so I missed his announcement. I heard him say he had an important announcement to come at 5 but these folks like to tease us listeners so much that I hardly can take them seriously anymore about their teases. Anyway, thanks. I'll try and search around for any details.
We need to do a push for this. If H.A.T. is interested I can lend a hand.

I scoured KPRC 9.50AM radios website. They apparently haven't put up anything about it yet. Maybe by morning there'll be something up by then.
If anyone else knows the details then please clue the rest of us in.

Xena, thanks so much for the ping...I knew there would be a rally in San Antonio..indeed, have notified a few bloggers there, but was not sure there would be one in Houston.

Latest information that I have, courtesy of the announcement on the Chris Baker show.
Saturday, March 1st, 2003
Jones Plaza (near corner of Texas and Louisiana Streets)
12:00 N - 2:00 PM
Pat Gray, Chris Baker, and I assume other local talk shows host will appear. Chris Baker indicated that speakers have been arranged.
There goes my road trip to San Antonio....Quick, someone clone me so I can attend both.
More details later.

An idea for this rally that will help us. On any signs we use, mention FreeRepublic and/or H.A.T. Remember those business card ideas? Print some out and hand it to some people. We will be surrounded by like-minded people and here is a chance to grew our numbers.

1) Good position for the speakers
2) More time to meet people
3) More time to make more noise

Sounds great. I'll do my best to be there. Now, let me take a guess. From the various posts on this thread, can I assume that Chris Baker must be an announcer on KPRC? Is he a conservative? I was not aware that KPRC had any conservative hosts. When Clear Channel bought them, their program quality went down hill fast and as a result, I haven't listened to their local programming since shortly after King John moved over to KSEV. Have they changed for the better?
On another note, does anyone out there know of any wine that compares closely to a classic French Burgundy? California wines are way to fruity. The Spec's wine rep suggested an Italian Barbera wine, which isn't bad, but still leaves quite a bit to be desired. After a lifetime of enjoying Burgundy wines, I know better than to expect to find something just as good. I just want to find something close.

Could someone please help me and post this poll, it is in Texas Monthly and needs freeping and I don't know how to do it. Thought I'd ask here as it looks like there might be a bunch of Texans reading this. It is at
http://www.texasmonthly.com/
To: Action-America
Well, let's go through the line-up.
5:00-9:00 Pat Gray (I prefer King John, but from what I have heard from Pat Gray, he is on the conservative side of center)
9:00-11:00 Glenn Beck (Haven't heard him too much, but I seem to like what I have heard, conservative side of center)
11:00-2:00 Rush Limbaugh (The God-Father of Conservative Talk Radio, 'Nuf Said)
2:00-6:00 Chris Baker (A bit sophmoric at times, but conservative side of center)
6:00-9:00 Sean Hannity (I like Laura Ingram - don't ask why. Sean is one of the best conservative talk show hosts anywhere)
9:00-12:00 Michael Savage (Getting near bedtime, but another good one)
12:00-2:00 Larry Elder (Don't know about him, and usually sleeping anyway).
I would say that KPRC has a conservative bent.
Can't help you with the wine, I am a Diet Coke person.

Thanks for the info on KPRC. Up to now, my radios have stayed on KSEV, except for Rush and Hannity. As soon as those programs are over, I tune back to KSEV. Then, if nothing worthwhile is on KSEV, I turn on the CD player. Maybe I'll give KPRC a listen again (probably when Dan Patrick is on, since I never listen to him).

Pat Gray and Glenn Beck are both Mormon (Pat has six kids), and they used to do a radio show together up north. Pat is quite funny, and sometimes gets pretty riled - especially when someone insults his wife.

Not to worry about cloning my FRiend. Besides, KPRC is hosting this one which means we get to be attendees instead of hosts. Makes our job much much easier!

Its funny you should mention the subject of the Burgundy. I was enjoying a very fine cut of beef at lunch today, but I dared not have my customary glass of Burgundy for fear it would be a French vintage. I too was in Specks on Smith Monday, and I ran across a guy working there who used to be the wine Steward at The Houston Club. He has a vast knowledge of all things wine. Try www.mikesvinyard.com. I bet he can be of assistance.
BTW we are holding the next monthly meeting of our local Freerepublic Chapter at a French restaurant. It should be a real hoot.

Action: PLEASE consider some Texas Wines...I have listed a few links on my blog.
The Cantina Fall Creek makes a WONDERFUL chardonnay as well as a rich merlot, but Messina Hoff also makes excellent wines.

You will have to scroll down to the entry for Monday, Feb 17...Blogger screwed up my archive settings and I have been trying vainly to repair them.
Also, I agree with you to a point that Clear Channel really shook things up when they booted Dan Patrick out, but Chris Baker really is a cool talk show host...sometimes I get a little bored with him because he can go over the top and he tends to go with the raging topic of the day, rather than taking the time to explore what everyone ISNT talking about...and he gets carried away with sensationalizing it, but for the most part, he is spot on as far as supporting a strong conservative base.
I am also pleased that KPRC has brought in people like Glenn Beck and Pat Gray...their sarcasm is something I can appreciate and they tend to have a perspective that I like. Both those guys are very good as well.
I still listen to KSEV in the morning with Jon Matthews. To me he has always been the most reasoned and most fun to listen to. I enjoy his sense of humor as well. Mike Richards drives me nuts because he never manages to finish a sentence and the directions he takes the conversation in are sometimes a bit too obscure. Dan Patrick is good, but a little overbearing for me. His heart is gold though, and I love that he is so active in the community.

Any ideas about parking? bathrooms? Since I live in the boonies and don't get to the settlements much anymore I need a little more instruction. I wanted to come to the rally on the 15th but it was pouring rain at my house and had a husband home with the flu so this is a not to be missed opportunity. Are FReepers meeting in any particular location?

If this rally grows to a few thousand, car pooling will be a great option to consider. Street parking on Saturday is free, I believe.
