Posted on 02/19/2003 4:36:48 PM PST by BurbankKarl

I received the following email about 20 mins ago...this is the result of an LAPD shooting of a suspect last night. Stay off the MTA Blue Line and out of the area for now. LASD and LAPD have commandposts set up.

Where is Field Marshall Bratton now??

LASD Transit Bureau on scene at 55th St. & Holmes Ave. re: protest. Units reporting apptox. 60 people that have "broken several water hydrants" and blocked blue line tracks. LASD, LAPD, Housing Authority, and LA County Police on assisting. Units requesting supervision, gas, AR-15, and beanbags. Working on 484.1125.

Actualy a pretty good line that pointed out that in that area a large percentage of the population is not Americans.

Those that are, and shoot at cops over a 50 dollar ticket are not what I consider Americans anyway. Some how a mans life is worth more than not having to pay a fine ya think?

The butcher, the baker the candlstick maker, not the killer, the drug pusher and the rioting vandals are my fellow countrymen.

Since you didn't quote what you were replying to and since I only responded to two posts, I'll only say that I was referring to the ignorant post about LA being "a third-world country." I'm an American living in LA and not real wild about sweeping generalizations. I'm not a "killer, the drug pusher and rioting vandals" (and for that matter, not "the butcher, the baker the candlestick maker" -- :-] ).

In a foul mood, are you?

Not until I read the ignorant comment about LA being a "third-world country."

I hope you're only kicking FReepers and not your dog as well.

No, I don't kick true FReepers nor my dog -- only ignorant comments.

He did a good job here. I just don't think there were enough cameras for Bratton and Rudy at the same time.

You're right. Bratton did an excellent job leading NYPD, but he has a big ego and so does Rudy. I think Bratton's star shined a little too brightly for Rudy. I think Rudy viewed him as a potential rival.

Bratton is very smart and very tough. LA maybe his most challenging assignment yet, but I think he will acquit himself well.

Okay, they are rioting in their own neighborhoods, knocking out fire hydrants, what happens when they "accidently" lite their "cribs" on fire? I don't understand.

No water + house on fire = homeless!

After the 1980 Liberty City Riots in Miami, HUD and other agencies had a great idea. Since the "people" burned down their own ghetto, where could they house them? The decision was to give them subsidized apartments in what was a decent lower-middle class area of North Miami, which quickly degenerated into a slum within a few years.

Sorry "my bad"!

I meant to say "third-world in terms of public safety, schools, health and social services, and ability to speak the national language - but with a top-notch professional basketball team".

Fine. Let 'em burn down their own neighborhoods yet again.............and not one thin dime of taxpayers' money should go into any "rebuilding" afterward.

Well the closest you can find to a third-world country in America is that part of town.

Is Jesse Jackson missing out on some publicity? Oh, that's right, he is stirring things up in Chicago at the moment.

I'm so glad to hear that! You can get around LA on different freeway systems if you hear about stuff in advance.

Makes my heart happy for you and your mom.
