The smartest move, and the one that hurts the educrats the most, is to take your kids out of public education. Home-school 'em, find a way to afford private school, charter schools, alternative ed systems, magnet programs, ANYTHING that deprives the enemy of their beloved federal dollars (OUR confiscated wages). Little else will get them to change... trust me on this... although HUGE and public shamings in the media do get their attention, as well. Let's encourage these parents to do both.

I think my brother is thinking about sending his twin girls to private school; he has a couple of years to decide. He will not be happy to hear about this.

It's a 16+ meg file so it will take some time to download (depending on modem or broadband), and includes all the day's news. The segment start 8:30 into the broadcast and continues for 2.5 minutes. When you hear what the teachers are telling the kids (e.g. their mommy or daddy is a bad person for going off to fight in Iraq), it will make your blood boil.

Sorry.........don't buy it. I heard of localized attempts at similar "laws" or statutes (i.e. the Bay Area), etc. but I'll have to ask you to show me a link to the legislation that, effectively, makes homeschooling illegal in California. I highly, highly doubt this could happen without serious rioting happening, even in California (lived......and homeschooled.........there for many years).

Sharon Pelletier: “Maine’s Army National Guard has a bone to pick with some of the state’s teachers and school officials.”

Craig Colson: “Officers with the Guard’s Family Assistance Program say that some of the children of deploying soldiers are being traumatized by educators who have anti-war views.  Allen Grover explains.”

Major Andrew Gibson: “… but I do know that it’s been coming from different communities and different school districts as we’ve moved through the state, ah  hearing that these kids have faced this.”

Alan Grover: “What the kids are facing is hearing that their mother or father is a bad person for taking part in the confrontation with Iraq; comments that are coming from teachers.  That’s according to officers with the Guard’s Family Assistance Program who’ve been traveling throughout the state this week.  The officers report that such incidents are relatively few in number but that they’ve occurred in practically every region of the state.”

Major Andrew Gibson: “Some kids have even reported that … ah … teachers have said things to them, specifically, about the  ah  unethical nature of their parent going off to fight.”

LTC John Mosher: “Soldiers follow our instructions to coordinate with schools to let them know they will be leaving, that their child should be monitored and to keep an eye on ‘em.  And when we get responses back like it’s our problem that we’re deploying or that our child is a result of an unethical act in supporting the country, in supporting the president, as a soldier, it’s unacceptable.”

Alan Grover: “Guard officials say that they are not suggesting that teachers should be censored but that point out that most of the Army kids who’ve been affected by the classroom criticism of the military are only 7 to 9 years old.  The Guard says tact in such cases is not too much to ask of Maine’s teachers.”

Major Andrew Gibson: “The separation from a parent for any reason is traumatic, so it’s important for us to be sensitive to that …  and to realize that these kids need support now, not necessarily to be pawns in a debate.”

Alan Grover: “Maine education commissioner Duke Albany? says he and the National Guard are discussing the allegations and he will issue an advisory to the state’s educators if that’s warranted.  For now, though, Albany says that such allegations seem very out of character for Maine’s dedicated teaching force and that no parents have made any such complaints to the education department.  Alan Grover, WABI TV 5 news.”

These days, the two are mostly synonomous. And the bad thing is that most of the teachers THEMSELVES are so brainwashed that "they know not what they do".

I have no doubt that the teachers are liberal. I live in MA. I know about the NEA and their agendas.

However, I am suggesting that folks get the story straight before we start lynching people.

Perhaps the story is true. If it is, and it is proven, then I'll buy the rope. What I am saying is that far too many folks on this site would goose-step right down the drain and trample on EVERYONE's freedoms to prove their conservative point.

Exactly. We sat on our butts for years while they incrementally took over, and now, they've won. Even with a Republican in the White House and Republicans controlling both houses of Congress, liberalism still grows daily. The only thing that happens now, even in the best of times, is a slight retardation of the growth of liberalism. Our government, our education system, and our media are all too far gone. I don't know how it will all play out in the end, but the left won. All we can do is protect our own families, influence those who are within our personal circles, and pray for God to have mercy on this nation. We can keep fighting, but the war is lost just as surely as Betamax lost to VHS.
