LONDON -- Energy prices have soared on worries about military action in Iraq, but early Monday some British drivers experienced their first war-related shock at the pumps: no gasoline.
In the latest antiwar demonstration to hit Europe, volunteers for the environmental group Greenpeace launched predawn raids on scores of Esso gasoline stations across the country, disabling pumps and locking nozzles with bicycle chains. Drivers expecting to refuel before the morning commute had to hunt for gas elsewhere.
