Here is how they do it. First option is to ignore the pro-US rally in a foreign country all together (as they did in many places regarding the Saturday Seoul rally). Many US media outlets have chosen to do this. It is controlled media in its finest.

Second option is that if the 'irritating' rally (pro-US in this case) is so large that it cannot be ignored, then you look for another rally somewhere in Korea that day and write the article from the perspective of "two rallies", putting them on the same plane and watering down the effect of the pro-US group's turnout.

The fact of the matter is that much smaller (tiny) gatherings of anti-US people in Seoul were taking place Saturday, too. But the clever effect of slanted journalism is to MAKE BOTH RALLIES SHARE THE SAME ARTICLE OR HEADLINE. If it were the reverse case, they would hardly have a small pro-US rally share the article with a story about massive anti-US demonstration. They also cleverly slander the turnout, such as mention "mostly old, conservative people" or "the rally was not as big as organizers had hoped for" or write vaguely "in the thousands" or outright lie in saying 20,000 to 30,000. They also discuss it in terms of a generational dispute, but what is their scientific evidence to reach that conclusion?

You are right on target, Tamsey, to focus on this rally and the instance of international and US media blackout and distortion. It is so apparant it isn't even funny!

Thanks for the info, and, yes, I see exactly what you mean.

What disturbs me most about this situation is all of the American soldiers that have died in the effort to preserve our rights of voting, free speech and self-governance.... and yet the liberals are content to be manipulated and blatantly lied to by media trying to maneuver political outcomes. It's tragic :-(

Thanks again so much for all the info, pics, and tear-inducing video! What I'd really like to do is bring all those wonderful folks here and send the U.S. liberals to S. Korea... then have our troops leave ;-)

Easy to UNDERRATE N.Korea: Idiotic leader, starving people. BUT DON'T! They could attack in a flash..

yes, the NKPA could attack, but once their under-fed soldiers saw a McDonalds on every corner and the prosperity of the ROK, I think the officers would find it hard to motivate their troops...

When Al sharpton gets a crowd of 5% that size, the liberal press estimates it at 1,000,000. Hmmm.

New math!
