Many arabs have similar first and last names. Titles and status included. I tried to confirm the difference on that raid in Pakistan, but couldn't at the moment.

Well, this is a pretty malicious article. The Independent is virulently anti-American and pro-Arab. But some Freepers have already speculated that we wouldn't announce such a capture until we had a little time to grill the suspect and seize any sleepers he named.
Sure it's a convenient time for the announcement. Tough.
The reliability of such reports cannot be established until he is brought to trial.
That will be never.
