This was frightening to hear about this morning - if this is what is required teaching in Metro schools.

you have to sip it to the rim.
Dr. Garcia must have gotten her PHd at some "turd world" university. That isn't even ENGLISH!

I wonder how many of these "educators" would look at one of our "Vey Series" threads and fail to see anything amiss.

Scary in light of the story on 60 Minutes last week about the grads from IIT in India - if students can't get into this hi-tech school over there they are able to skate through classes if they "settle" for Cornell or MIT.

We're zoned for metro schools, and my family thinks I've lost my mind because we homeschool.

Another attempt at teaching ebonics. Just because the kids "get it", doesn't mean they "get it" right! I am appauled at the things our teachers are required to teach!
The reason they have to teach it? The teachers before them taught by sight words, didn't bother about teaching phonics and don't seem to care that two and two still adds up to four!(New math's answer could be five!)
The job of the teacher is to promote good feelings about themselves in a student, this is just pure bunk! The job of a teacher is to teach!
Dr. Garcia maybe happy with students sounding like they fell off the tamale/turnip truck, but we in TN are not! We are appauled and ashamed of our low standings amoung the states in education. His job was to be to make Metro schools better, not send them further down the tubes, by teaching jibberish and suspending the good teachers we have!

Actually, Dr. Garcia is a he! (Pedro) IIRC, he is a Cuban native whose parents sent him to the US in the 60s because he was throwing things at Cuban soldiers and getting into trouble.

It's both frightening and hilarious.

I can't use this because I don't know what I just read!American public schools are a joke. No wonder so many foreign nationals are in our universities.

Al ran back to have it, a tack is in his mitt. Al can sag. Al recovering in the hospital. Al can tap his lip.Huh? How does one run back to have it? Where is the "is" in "Al recovering in the hospital"? Complete gibberish and extremely silly, to boot.
Tsk, tsk. Dick and Jane would be so disappointed. At least Dick and Jane made sense.
