W. was phenomenal. And the press was just what I expected, the same old questions. At least he can say he gave them another chance to ask their questions.

No. The fact fact that Saddam's a bad guy and has a following doesn't justify our sending Americans to their deaths to fight him without an attack on us. Otherwise, let's attack Mugabe, Castro, and a whole host of other anti-American tinpots - - your logic would send Americans to their deaths around the world. Bush says the reason we're not attacking N Korea is that containment will work. I agree with him - - and don't see why the same principle doesn't apply with Saddam.

I did. They are an industrialized society that happens to be controlled by a despotic leader. And so, your point is?

No Tom, Iraq is not a sophisticated society in compared to the west. With out oil, they are nine cents short of a dime. They are already a backwards, backwater, and clearly a sub-western standard of living...With respect to the innocent Iraqi on the street. My point is that I fully support our troops and our President, however, I am very tired of the talk.

It has grown very tiresome and I find dealing with the UN embarrassing and offensive.

We need to state our business, clearly make our point, and shut up. Go in and do it, end the politics......All this talk, betting, speculation, BS etc is getting old and can only help the enemy...........

didn't think so. (Frankly, I'm amazed at the number of replys s/he HAS received....too bad s/he wasn't ignored from the git-go....IMHO....would have saved a lot of posting space.

His bellicose nature and threats against his neighbors make him uniquely dangerous. He's conducted two notoriously bloody wars against his neighbors, and is obviously keen to do so again. He has conducted aggressive programmes to acquire weapons of mass destruction, and he's on record of having used them.

Read a few of his speeches someday; they're remarkably like bin Laden's. America is to blame for everything, rivers of blood will flow, and so on and on.

The actions of the Iraqi regime make the Cubans look mild. (Maybe it's that tropical climate that mellows even Communism). Even Mugabe is a piker compared to Saddam. This is not to excuse either regime, but to point out that Saddam is truly an unusually brutal individual.

As Dog Gone said, we may have to take on North Korea. But again, this is a relatively new crisis, and not all diplomatic avenues have been explored and dismissed. So it's not time to mass troops just yet. I think Kim Jong Il is just looking for a few more bribes from us. We have to tread carefully on this since if we do bribe him, we'll be put in this situation repeatedly until someone calls his bluff one way or the other. We have to calm him down, and that's best done through diplomacy.

It did stimulate a lot of concise and well thought out responses to the basic left wing obstructionism. Many who'se question were sincere may have found an answer here. The blockhead has served us well. ; )

Re: war... At the tactical level, absolutely. But I'm not really sure, at the level of strategic deceptions and the like, whether that would be called poker or chess, or somewhere in between, like the kids game, "Battleship" LOL.

As a kid, I was big into those Avalon Hill brand wargames, where you moved cardboard units around a map gridded in hexagonal fashion, engaging the enemy. I still have them all down the basement. I was/am such a geek.
