Marching arm-in-arm into the glorious red dawn of a worker's paradise...
All county wide offices too.
That might also be attributable to the fact that, of 21 seats on C-town city council, all 21 are occupied by 'Rats! What's funny is this was the case when The Menace got de-elected, yet after two years of him Cleveland had a Republican mayor for the next ten.
Cleveland proper is becoming less and less relevant in the metro area, though ISG may save it (no thanks to The Menace or any of the other Dims). This is less due to their idiotic local politicians than it is to CERCLA, though the Cleveland Dims (unlike other big city examples of the breed) haven't caught on to this yet. Oh well, at least they helped bring about Vouchers.

Is there anyone out there who can beat this guy???The Ohio GOP concentrated as many Dims as possible in two districts, Menace's and Stephanie Tubbs Jones's. LaTourette's district used to wrap around to catch the corner of my burb, but no more. >:(

Hoke was terrific, by the way. A real political anomaly, it's surprising he won at all in Cleveland as a REAL Republicannot a RINO like Voinvoich. He unseated Mary Rose Ogre in light of her check-kiting mess (everybody remember that pre-Clinton 'Rat scandal?) It's too bad Marty lost after two terms...but again, considering this was in Commie Cleveland, I thought it was awesome he even got those opportunities.Ogre (who made Donna Shalala look feminine) was the only Dim deeply involved in both the check-kiting and House Post Office messes. Marty was good, an actual non-lawyer who had succeeded in business :gasp:, but the local media hated him. They crucified him for a "sexist" comment made into an inadvertently open mike in '94 when a Dim who said something equally naughty got off scot free. The irony was that Marty won and the Dim lost.
Voinovich isn't nearly as bad a RINO as, for example, DeWiner. He's about the best that can be expected and certainly did a better job as Governor than Taft.

Man I hope you are wrong - otherwise we'll turn in to Detroit.
Yea, but it was true. She really did have nice breasts!
Cleveland proper is becoming less and less relevant in the metro area True, but aren't they trying every trick in the books to save their wretched @$$eslike consolidating county and regional authorities in order to get at that prosperous, suburban tax base? Big-city politicos always seem to have some big swindle in mind to get surrounding suburbs and townships to pay for their urban/ghetto fiefdoms. There's a few of those like the Regional Transit Atrocity, the sewer/water district, and various countywide levies. But it's not as bad as Columbus where they simply annex pretty much whatever they want. Being an older city Cleveland is ringed by well established and solidly incorporated suburbs and has been for 40+ years. Cities like Garfield Heights, Maple Heights, Parma, Brookpark, East Cleveland, Lakewood, Euclid, et al may have their own Dim politicians, but pretty much every single one of them would sooner swim to Canada naked in January than even consider merging into Cleveland proper. In this case, politicos jealous of their own perogatives serve a purpose. They protect the outer ring 'burbs where a lot of the development is going on. The suburbs of Cuyahoga County alone have twice the population of Cleveland itself.
ISG may save it...International Steel Group, which is currently running the old LTV East and is supposed to be considering opening the west plant as well. Steel company run by engineers, not bean counters, and looking at becoming as big as USX. If they keep going strong, between them, their suppliers, and Cleveland Clinic/UH that gives the city itself a strong business base.ISG?

I see "Sticky-fingers" Stokes was there too.
The message on the other side of the sign was, "boycott French and German products", the above photo had more LOCAL interest.
