[history]
It's a beat-up little suburban single-story house in a Third World place far away. Faded blue paint on the outside, broken bicycle on a cracked cement walkway, rusty fence. You wouldn't think twice if you drove by. It wasn't interestingly decrepit or antique, just modern, cheap and fallen down.

She left out Osama's little friend, stuffed "Bert" from Sesame Street.
Really, he don't leave home without it!

Did you go back and reread it? I know;>) I am reading too much into the article. Peggy makes me dig deep.
Grenada, West Indies. When I first joined FR, I was living in....Grenada. Then, as it is now, FR was my bastion of sanity. I live in New Orleans now. Truthfully, Grenada and New Orleans are quite similiar.

I'll take it to my Creative Writing 101 class and see what they thinkOh, I have no doubt this piece would garner a respectable grade in "Creative Writing 101." However, Noonan is a fine professional writer, and this is the Wall Street Journal. The bar is quite a bit higher. She misses.

Well maybe she was reaching,or she is burned out with how she has been stating the case ...I do notice she tries to personalize stuff at times with snippets of her life

I dearly love Peggy...but this one...Guess I have to write it off to "artistic license" (which she has earned a right to have)

Some need to lighten up and see it for what it is- a psalm to our Guardian Angels.

If I had Osama in a Hummer taking him in to U.S. Army Ranger custody for interrogation, I think I'd blast the SOB with AC/DC's "You're on the Highway to Hell."

I loved this piece.
But at the end, I wanted the president to reach in his desk drawer and pull out "the list".

I loved this pieceI did too. It does add humanity to this whole situation. I really don't mind if it is called a creative writing 101 exercise
I know that if I were one of those commanders and I was in that position, I would be blasting some heart pumping Rock & Roll like Ted Nugent or on second thought for irony, I would have blasted a Barabara Streisand tune.

Keeping with the tone of the article "Sky Pilot", but what do I know.
