Edited on 04/23/2004 12:05:23 AM PDT by Jim Robinson. [history]

It's a beat-up little suburban single-story house in a Third World place far away. Faded blue paint on the outside, broken bicycle on a cracked cement walkway, rusty fence. You wouldn't think twice if you drove by. It wasn't interestingly decrepit or antique, just modern, cheap and fallen down.

Peggy can make me cry like no other writer. She does it on purpose: makes people cry. I would be more tongue-tied upon meeting her than meeting the president.

Thats what I first thought but on re read it brings the humanity of the whole thing home ...we forget Hitler put his pants on one leg at a time as did the people who died putting him and his monstrous regime 6 feet under

it brings the humanity of the whole thing home

Sorry, this is just weird fantasizing. If she wants to bring the "humanity" of it "home" (whatever that means), let her tell the tale - after it actually happens.

Great Peggy! I think you are wrong. Tom Sizemore debates about playing the only CD he has...the CD "the old guy" gave him. It wasn't his choice, it was all he had and he wanted music, any music to mark the moment.

Peggy always makes me cry, she knows how to get me every time. What a great article.
