Anybody know when this UN vote is? If the resolution gets vetoed, the war might start ASAP.

If Saddam is currently preparing Iraqi oil fields for torching, every minute counts. They better begin yesterday. There is no logic whatsoever in waiting on the UN since the decision is already known.

Criminey. I thought he had already gone.

I think they were asked to vote tomorrow (Tues.)...but as you say if a veto is planned, why wait?

I think the Administration anticipates a veto. If there's a veto, the March 17th date is a nullity. We can attack anytime before that. That's why Franks is going on out.

There was some discussion in our local news over the weekend that medical staff deployments just happened. From what our local media said, physicians are the last to be deployed because of the problems of providing medical care at home w/the docs being gone.
Looks like time is running out for Saddam, France, etc.

Well we can then count on 24 hour un-interrupted coverage on CNN AND FOX who said they will not air one commercial during the first 72 hours of the war.

I think they were asked to vote tomorrow (Tues.)...but as you say if a veto is planned, why wait? Seems like we still might be in a wait-and-see mode on Turkey and being able to launch a northern attack. Can anyone enlighten us all on this?
To: My Favorite Headache
hey, chirac!?! What's that running down your legs???? You better hope and pray that hussein shredded your participation proof. We shall see the truth in short order. In the meantime, jacques, eat, drink, and be merry...

According to MSNBC just a few minutes ago, there will be no UN vote tomorrow. And the March 17th deadline for Saddam to disarm may and probably will be extended. Blair supposedly is asking the Whitehouse for an extension.

OK, no vote tomorrow, pushed to Thursday...Tony Blair can ask, but we need not agree. He could then say that he tried his best to obtain a delay. We would need to quote some new evidence in our reasoning to go ahead.

all of the jacking around is going to cost more dollars and lives. Saddam can just use all this time to manufacturer more weapons and booby trap more oilfields.
To: jerseygirl
We would need to quote some new evidence in our reasoning to go ahead. The undisclosed Blix report? Those things the inspectors found but didn't publically mention?
Powell was to chew some a$$ around 4:00 today. Maybe the talks with Blix didn't go so well?

For real. I am in Virginia and we have a lot of military bases. We've had lots of stories about various National Guard units being deployed, various ships out of Norfolk being deployed, etc. I'll see if I can find something for you. I heard it on local tv news.
Also, there was a big article in the Richmond Times Dispatch over the weekend about the VA hospital here being told to get their stuff together in the event of casualties. Apparently, the VA in Richmond is one of the designated places where wounded would come. The article was quite long talking about the impact on the patients here, how the process would work.
To: L,TOWM
Thank you for the kind words. I am proud DAMN PROUD! This is his second time to the middle east. He is ready and anxious to meet up with the republican guard. Heck, he even has some nice words for Saddam. :) HOOAH!!!

I wonder what we will be subjected to to fill all of that timeMost likely a few thousand fox news alerts. Deeming as though they throw them out there about once every 10 minutes...
