Sorry for the vanity post but I'm moving to Texas soon and plan on applying for my CCW/CHL permit. I'm looking for belt/paddle/shoulder type holster recommendations for a 1911 style pistol that would work for both me & my husband. Being somewhat on the overfed side of things, IWB's are not an option right now.
My primary carry mode will probably be a Coronado Leather bag, but that won't work for him! And I want the option to carry on-person sometimes too. Also it would need to be suitable for possible IDPA shoots.
TOPICS: Miscellaneous
KEYWORDS: banglist; ccw; holster; women
TIA for your suggestions!

Take a swing over to Glocktalk.com and search in the Concealed Carry forum. I have Sidearmor and Comp-Tac IBW (inside the belt) and have found both companys to be top notch. You will also read about others that people like. The big question is will the gun be concealed or an open carry.
Best wishes and stay in condition yellow!

Having just went through this......I ended up with a SmartCarry, smartcarry.com, for carrying comcealed. Works very well.

You and some others I have seen here usually come to the aid of those in need. Any comments here?

Given your parameters I have found the Kydex holsters from Uncle Mike's to be an excellent option. It keeps a 1911 in perfec position and the paddle does not dig in.

I gave my two cents worth for a secondary carry rig that met the parameters specified.

You will get many answers; personally, I like Galco for leather and Comp-Tac for plastic. Each has web sites, and Comp-Tac is know for a very fast response. My favorite concealed carry is a Gurka from Comp-Tac because it only requires an untucked shirt to conceal. I like my Galco (fits through a belt) for when I know I will wear a jacket the entire time. Most active concealed carry types eventually collect multiple holsters for each gun.

I've got a comptac outside the waistband kydex holster for my 1911 and it doesn't move at all and is very comfortable. I used it for two days at a firearms academy and it worked wonderfully. Very reasonable price as I remember, less than 45 bucks I believe.

For wintertime (covered by jacket or sweater) a Fobus paddle hoster is convenient, effective, and CHEAP.
