Many thanks for the ping, Mike.

I have a small portrait of President Reagan I received from the 'Ronald Reagan Presidential Library' that is mounted in my office. On the reverse is the following:

 

            "The doors of this library are open now and all are welcome.   The judgment of history is left to you, the people.   I have no fears of that, for we have done our best.   And so I say, come and learn from it.


            My fondest hope is that Americans will travel the road extending forward from the arch of experience, never forgetting our heroic origins, never failing to seek divine guidance as we march boldly, bravely into a future limited only by our capacity to dream.


            May every day be a new beginning, and every dawn bring us closer to that shining city upon a hill."

President Reagan is one of my heroes; his earlier writings show just what a great American he is and that he never compromised his beliefs no matter the provocations. He is truly a giant of Mankind, and I am honoured to have learned of him and from him.

God be with you now and always, Mr. President.

I've spoken of the shining city all my political life, but I don't know if I ever
quite communicated what I saw when I said it. But in my mind it was a tall,
proud city built on rocks stronger than oceans, windswept, God-blessed, and teeming
with people of all kinds living in harmony and peace; a city with free ports that hummed
with commerce and creativity. And if there had to be city walls, the walls had doors
and the doors were open to anyone with the will and the heart to get here.
That's how I saw it, and see it still.
