The one thing that used to exasperate me, but now concerns me, is the mindset that somehow the 'right to free speech' for celebrities precludes the right of people that bought their product to walk away and boycott.
You see the same attitude expressed by the Hollywood actor's union warning the industry not to 'blacklist' actors who choose to shout their opinions in a public forum, only to have the general public use their rights of freedom of association to not support said actor's movies or support their sponsors. What movie executive in their right mind, in a business that makes its money from the folks paying $7.00 a pop to watch a movie, would continue to turn off the people paying the movie industries' bills? That is not blacklisting, but business.
Sorry, Virginia, but the 1st amendment cuts both ways. You 'celebrities' have every right to your views, and to express them, but I have every right not to support you with my hard earned money, or your sponsors with my hard earned money.
Nothing?
This is not the first time anyway that these Unliked in Dixie Pricks have done this. If we let them off the hook this time, there will be another time to deal with them, just like Iraq.
This is in responce to the dixie chicks commnets made while they were in a foriegn country. I see on your site that you are sponsoring the concerts and make it possible for them to go to a foriegn nation to protest our president and the upcoming war. I have friends as well as family in the gulf right now waiting to go to war. When the bullets start flying and the bodies start hitting the floor it very well maybe a direct family member of mine that is killed or a close personal friend.
So i will no longer be purchasing any of your products until you pull your sponsorship of the dixie chicks and im not kidding if I haveto go the rest of my life never buying a lipton product or a unilever product that is fine with me when I hear that you canceled all financial support of the dixie chicks i will start buying lipton tea again until then Luzianne Tea is fine with me
This is the responce i got back yesterday
Dear:
Thanks so much for writing!
We are writing in response to your comments regarding our sponsorship of the Dixie Chicks, "Top of the World Tour". We certainly apologize and are grateful you have chosen to share your thoughts.
As a manufacturer we feel it is a major responsibility to provide our friends and consumers with the most creative and entertaining means of sponsorship possible.
We have a long history of presenting "tasteful" advertising, promotional, and sponsorship efforts to the public. We certainly do not wish to offend anyone. In developing our promotional efforts, Unilever and its agencies may not always anticipate all possible implications of a specific campaign.
We will certainly forward your comments to the Marketing staff. Consumer comments are very important and evaluated on a regular basis.
We do thank you for your interest!
Your friends at Unilever Bestfoods North America
If you think it will do any good after seeing thier responce you can write to them at

Yeah? Then why didn't you do that Nat? Instead you aired family laundry in a public forum. Not just to a public forum, but to one that is known to be in the process of deciding a very serious issue that is important to this country.
Your comments were disloyal to this country. You want to state your views, state them HERE, don't go onto foreign soil and trash our president when we're about to go to war.
God these people are stupid!
He is the only one who can do it and I think he will. That won't get them back to where they were but will save their careers. It won't change my opinion of them (or probably Bush's) but I think he will do it as a very public example of "putting our differences behind us".
Just my $.02.
Good enough for me and close enough to "I was wrong". I forgive her ... and issue her a yellow card. She's immature, young and stupid, but that's curable. Martin Sheen, The Left Wing and the products he endorses, on the other hand, should be absolutely boycotted. I want him retired. And any further even slightly anti-American comment from any of the Dixie Chicjs and it will be a red card -- they're outta here.
