NBC News: Regular Army in No. Iraq Already Beginning to Surrender; Little Food, Equipment Broken
NBC News | March 16, 2003 | Fred Francis

Posted on 03/16/2003 3:57:05 PM PST by Timesink

Fred Francis reporting live as I type this from Iraq's Northern Front.

Many members of the Iraqi regular army are already coming across to surrender. They report no food. Morale near zero. Everyone from the highest commanders to the lowest privates that remain are openly discussing plans to surrender en masse the moment war starts.

One commander says he has 27 tanks; only 6 work.

Francis reports that US forces expect near-ZERO military response from Iraqi forces, except from the Republican Guard around Baghdad itself. The reason: They actually think they WON in 1991 because we didn't go after them. (Even though that was by UN fiat, not a military decision.) They will fight, unless they've been shocked and awed, heh heh heh.

Gee, didn't the French send replacement parts for the tanks, too? They're slipping.
"

Those ARE the new ones....

Christiane's a phony anyway....that's not even her real name! Maybe if she used her real name it might detract from her phony sincerity.

Actually, I have to give her a little credit; she's asking precisely the questions we'd want to ask him. He's being a weasel in the responses, but she's not kissing his butt like I thought she would.

Christiane Amanpour's real name is Nicole Johnston. Relayed to me by a rug merchant who learned it from her cameraman while on a return trip from Afghanistan. Said she jealously guards it since one of her parents (her father) is American.

ROFL.

At least the Iraqis, unlike the French, had the common decency to wait until the eve of war before surrendering.

This is all well and good, but its what happens with the WMDs and the missiles that is the key to this war, not what happens to a couple of front line miscreants who can't get a tank started. Its the WMDs and the missiles that can really hurt us.

Chritiane's not as bad as that ex-palestinian spokesperson lady that's now an msnbc analyst. Every time there's a disucission about Iraq, she always STILL brings the palestinians plight into play. I forget her name.

I am NOT in the mood for another "Mother of all surrenders". How boring.

Hey, don't forget, even in '91 we had a good two solid weeks of massive air bombardments before the ground war even started. We'll have some fun no matter what.

Thanks for the Fox News Hotel finder. Unfortunately, I don't have a choice in the matter. My company already booked the rooms at the Renaissance Hotel by Sea World and I just found out that they do not have FoxNews. Now I'm really bummed. Guess I'll have to pay for the broadband connection and hope to catch a live feed over the web.

Oh vomit. Chirac just said "The relationsheep between Fraaance and dee yew-esss ees one of LOVE!" Puke puke puke.

I'd have to agree, we would just LOVE to kick you a$$. I have a great idea to show my utter disgust at the Frogs. I am going to buy a French flag, stake it to the ground in front of my house and post a sing that says, "Curb your dog here"! After about a month, I'll take a picture of it and enclose the flag and picture with the "donations" collected and mail it to the France embassy. Think they will get the message?

Look, Saddam knows he can't beat us. He's going to try to escape to some God forsaken country and hit our troops and very possibly us here in the US, and Great Britain, with chem and or bioweapons.

Do you realize how little it would take to get a smallpox epidemic going? Just send a few infected people through Heathrow and Kennedy and LaGuardia. You think this new SARS is bad? Wait until you see Saddam's smallpox, which Ignorance Is Blix can't find with both hands and a clue.

Saddam plans on wreaking havoc on the West, and he plans on enjoying the destruction from his nice little exile spot in Libya or Singapore, or Argentina, or . . .

Which is why we have to go after him and his WMD's. The sooner the better.

No,no, no... you spread small pox by giving it to war protesters. They're everywhere and trying to infect everybody with there mindless claptrap, so one more virus fighting for airspace among the maggots and headlice won't be noticed by the security pukes at the airports.
