Washington 'D.C.' Renamed to Honor Dixie Chicks
(2003-03-15) -- The 'D.C.' in Washington D.C. will no longer stand for District of Columbia if some Democrats have their way.
Sen. Tom Daschle, D-SD, announced today that members of his party will introduce a bill Monday to officially call the nation's capital "Washington Dixie Chicks."
"It seems only right," said Sen. Daschle, "Since the Dixie Chicks have just set a new record for one-day U.S. concert ticket sales, that we should honor them in this way. In addition, they have demonstrated that they have the pulse of American country music fans by expressing their embarrassment about coming from George Bush's home state of Texas."
The Dixie Chicks sold 867,000 concert tickets in one day this month, raking in $49 million dollars from adoring American fans. The tour is sponsored by Lipton.

Does this mean we have to boycott Lipton tea? I never liked the stuff anyway.

WHAT!
I can't believe that little Tommy has the nerve! What is he thinking?
I am going to personally make sure he doesn't win another election for any office higher than dog catcher.
The Blixie Chicks are ignorant eurotrash pandering monkeys.
I hope everyone burns their tickets!
(oh... lol)

I think that Da$$h+le would certainly believe a clever ploy such as this will launch his party to new levels of popularity. (among fellow monkeys)
To: No Truce With Kings
Heck, with all the welfare Democrats that make up the D.C. area, the new name might actually make a lot of sense. Then, as punishment, we ought to make the Dixie Chicks move there to see what it's like to be a socialist/commie/democrat.

Dear Sirs,
It has come to my attention that you are sponsoring the Dixie Chicks on their current tour.
I'm sure you're well aware of the comments made by the lead singer that disparage the U.S. war efforts in the Iraq.
If Natalie Maines feels that fighting to liberate the Kurds, of whom 200,000 + have already been ethnically cleansed, free the Shia who are systematically tortured, raped and murdered, or the Iraqi people in general who are starving while Hussein builds presidential palace after palace, that's her right. If she feels that 12 years and 17 U.N. resolutions are not enough reason to bring Hussein to justice, that's also her right.
But I see Lipton and Unilever as supporting this stance in their continued sponsorship of The Dixie Chicks and I will exercise my right to not purchase any Lipton or Unilever product ever again if the sponsorship continues.

Once again, Dashole displays his total lack of understanding what is going on in "Fly-Over Country", and is parading his ignorance as if it was a crown.

e-mailed to Lipton the following
Your advertisement campaign with the Dixie Chicks have just put you on a boycott campaign.
I will not be purchasing from organizations that afford individuals the platform to promote anti-american comments, especially of foreign soil when that is the only voice representing Americans. Thank you for your understanding, this is the beauty of America. I just believe that all of us are not afforded the same platforms to express our freedoms such as the Dixie Chicks have. Therefore the smaller guys with the common ground need to unify to get our freedom of speech heard.
Should we see your products advertised by this band, we assume that your corporate objective is to continue to provide a platform for such tasteless remarks and therefore we will exercise our freedoms to the same extent, using our wallets. Please understand your market share includes a dramatic number of southerns. Lipton has been a family tea as long as I can remember out of loyality. Your loyality is now in question.
Thank you for your time

Incidently, Scrappleface is the place that coined the term "Axis of Weasels." It was in a story where Rumsfelt was supposed to have apologized for calling Germany and France "the Axis of Weasels."
