A manager for the Country and Western group the Dixie Chicks is blaming the ongoing firestorm of negative reaction to anti-Bush comments by lead singer Natalie Maines last week on a vast right-wing cyber-conspiracy.
Dixie Chicks' manager Simon Renshaw has told radio stations currently boycotting the group's music that the uproar has been ginned up by the Web site FreeRepublic.com, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported Tuesday.
FreeRepublic has nicknamed the group, "The Blixie Chicks," after Saddam-friendly U.N. weapons inspector Hans Blix. Several posters to the cyber-forum have urged visitors to contact radio stations about the controversy.
"Your company is being targeted by a radical right-wing online forum," Renshaw complained in an e-mail distributed to radio stations by the Dixie Chicks' label, Sony Music. "You are being 'Freeped,' which is the code word for an organized e-mail/telephone effort attempting to solicit a desired response," he explained.
On March 10, lead Dixie Chick Maines told a London audience: "Just so you know, we're ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas."
After her remarks were reported, nationwide protests erupted in the U.S., with angry fans reportedly destroying their collections of Dixie Chicks CDs.
After four days Maines issued a semi-apology, saying her initial remarks had been "disrespectful."
"I feel that whoever holds that office should be treated with the utmost respect," she added.
But Maines' statement did little to assuage angry Country and Western music fans, who are predominantly conservative and pro-Bush.

"FReeped" is not a code word. Sorry. We must have forgotten to send you the memo on that.

All the Chicks have to do is:
1) Make a sincere Apology to President Bush and to the American People.
2) Cancel or Delay the rest of their 2003 World Concert Tour, as they will get severe Booing and Heckling by any former fans who attend the concerts just because they cannot give away the overpriced tickets.
3) GIVE a FREE TOUR of all our Military Outposts, putting on a:
...... "God Bless America and President Bush" Tour .....
....for our Service Men and Women all over the world. Perhaps after they have done 10 months of this they can get an invite to give a Free Concert for President Bush at the Ranch in Crawford TEXAS, as I believe President Bush would be the first to offer his forgiveness, and the good people of Texas would follow his lead.
This will TOTALLY recover their former status as #1 entertainers and they will rise to even higher heights, probably becoming regulars at the Super Bowl, etc. They will gain MUCH GREATER WEALTH AND FAME by executing this simple plan.
Now, are they smart enough to do it? Or are they going to stick with their "Blame the Freepers" and Denial campaign?
...... IMHO, Freepers are good and Powerful, but not as powerful as this outcome. The Blixie Chicks Stepped firmly on the Faces of their Base. All we did was point out the truth. Now they are wanting to shoot the messenger.
Peace, Love, and Joy! ([: ^ )

You know how it is with bad, or even slanderous PR:
JUST BE SURE THEY SPELL OUR NAME RIGHT (AND GIVE OUR CORRECT URL)!!
Why I would bet we would get all kinds of new signups and support as a result of the hit piece. I see FR 'hits' rising steadily and it is becoming a vital website for many, not just conservatives, but many who follow news and THOSE IN THE NEWS MEDIA.

Wish they would have engaged brain before spouting critisism. Easy to blurt out silly nonsense, but it does seem difficult for the Dixie's to really produce something patriotically upstanding. Perhaps reality escapes them.

"Papa Bear has returned to the den".
Repeat: "Papa Bear has returned to the den".
Go get 'em, Freepers. Don't forget your secret, cabal-like vast rightwing conspiratorial decoder rings to ascertain this message and order. That is all.
Out.
