In defense of moral principles such as individual freedom, liberty, property and sovereignty, might always makes right. A classic American metaphor is the character that John Wayne often played in the movies. Wayne didn't like to use force, he used it as an avenue of last resort, but when he saw the bully take advantage of those weaker than him, he didn't flinch. We depend on might to be mighty in the service of rendering justice and preserving moral order.
I'm proud and grateful that our nation has chosen to exercise might in defense of a people who have chafed under the brutal jackboot of a totalitarian socialist dictator for decades. Saddam has already poisoned his own people with biological agents, senselessly attacked his weaker neighbors, namely Kuwait and Israel, and has caused environmental devastation. Saddam poses as a threat to his neighbors and to the free world.
I'm pleased that America is standing with other individual nations who choose to take up our cause rather than with the amoral U.N. The U.N. has interfered in the past with American attempts to save small nations from brutal totalitarian aggression, the two most notable examples being Korea and Vietnam, and the results have been disastrous. Rather than standing for clear and unequivocal moral principles, the U.N. admits all nations regardless of their moral stance. Policies of the U.N. have resulted in perpetual war and the preservation of evil regimes. Lets hope that as a byproduct of today's conflict against Iraq, the U.N. will be exposed once and for all for what it is, an anachronistic vestige of the imperialistic and amoral new world order faith. Might, when in the hands of a moral people, ends wars and engenders freedom and prosperity.
America has a great and glorious history of standing up for freedom and sovereignty. After obtaining our own sovereignty from the brute force of the British Empire, America smote the Barbary Pirates during the Jefferson Administration. The Monroe Doctrine of 1822 committed America to preserving sovereignty in the Western Hemisphere against foreign aggression and intrigue. America defeated the evil forces of Nazism and Japanese Imperialism when Franklin D. Roosevelt called for unconditional surrender. America administered significant defeat to the world Communist behemoth when Ronald Reagan spoke of the evil empire and the Soviet Union and its puppets tumbled into the dust.
Once again, America is focusing its moral and physical might on fighting what George W. Bush called the axis of evil. As in the past, America does not seek to establish colonies to loot or "expropriate" property. Once again, America seeks to rid the world of another imperialistic world order bully who seeks to enforce his will on his own people and others. In the past, when America used moral force, the aftermath was a new rebirth of freedom and the achievement of unprecedented levels of prosperity. Examples of this are post World War II Germany and Japan. America hasn't always lived up to the true meaning of it's creed but it is doing so in the present conflict where the moral lines are clearly defined and understood by our leaders. Lets hope and pray that once again, American might will prevail and the aftermath will be a birth of freedom.
You're darn tooting, Chuck. Now, give me some fightin' room!
