The Church of the Warming Globe says, "there is heat".

"The Church of the Warming Globe"
I don't think it is far-fetched to speak in this manner. For the Church of Gaia, "global warming" is part of their Nicene Creed, and that is part of the reason they hate Bush - he is a heretic.

Living in Ontario my entire life, I can safely say that this was the most harsh, cold and dreadful winter I've ever been through. It's now 4 degrees out, thankfully, and to me, after 3 months of tundra life, it feels like midsummer. I could go out in shorts and a T-shirt and be fine.

A good definition of a religion is that regardless of any possible observed outcome there can be only one cause.
Weather Warmer = Global Warming.
Weather Colder = Global warming.
To: IvanT
We lived in Minnesota for 16 years. It took a full year to thaw out afterward.
To: IvanT
We've had two or three mild winters in a row, but in the 1990's we had several that seemed colder than normal, so I've seen no clear "global warming" trend here over the past 30 years.

Yes, also:
More rain = global warming
Less rain = global warming

If it gets warmer, blame global warming.
If it gets colder, blame global warming.
If it doesn't change, blame global warming.
Have we really ruled out a master weather criminal located
in Iceland?

The apocalyptic strain of the environmental movement is also very Western/Christian in style, if not substance.

I have also seen these claims:
Global Warming = rising sea levels
Global Warming = falling sea levels

One question the "global warming" folks never answer, or even seem to contemplate, is, "Would you prefer global cooling?"

Who the hell cares about the average national temperature? Nobody lives there! Nor do many Canadians live in the areas of Canada, such as the Yukon and the far northwest, where average temperatures were higher than normal and pulled the national average higher.I'm not one to buy into this whole global warming business, but the above statement does not reflect well on the author's intelligence. To determine whether global warming is real, you have to take readings, well, GLOBALLY. Just taking readings where people live isn't going to provide you with much of a scientific sample.

If it gets warmer, blame global warming.
If it gets colder, blame global warming.
If it doesn't change, blame global warming. That kinda reminds me of the antitrust law:
If your prices are higher than the others, it's price gouging
If your prices are lower, it's cutthroat
If your prices are the same, it's collusion

However, many places in the world and including the US had much colder than normal temperatures this winter. So, it was the Canadian report of two degrees warmer that was BS. What was the global temperature change this winter? Here is something to ponder. November was much cooler than normal in the eastern two-thirds of the United States, in northern Europe, Russia and in China and Japan. I would bet that this trend followed throughout the whole winter.

According to NASA's satellite temp. readings, the Earth has actually cooled approximately .1 degree since they began taking readings.
I think that they started taking readings in the late 80s.

Just reported on Fox Denver had the worst snow storm in 20 years.
To: Steve_Seattle
Would you prefer global cooling?" Either way, we should be alarmed. Of course, it would be warming or cooling or both all the time anyway, so we should be in a perpetual state of alarm. Would it help to light a candle?
