Incredible

Posted on 03/19/2003 4:56:10 PM PST by conservativefromGa

I'm currently watching a MSNBC live stream on my computer of downtown Baghdad. I see buses and cars and people walking buy, waiting for bombs to drop. I can hear all the sounds too. Welcome to war in the 21 century.

All I hear is birds chirping.

I think that's an artifact in the endec...could be wrong.

haha. no. they really went by...towards the very end of all the rumbling. But, now there's lots of rumbling as well, and nothing is going by; i don't know where this camera is positioned; maybe there's a highway behind it as well? BTW, there's better clarity (for some absurd reason) [Oh, another car went by] using MSIE than NN. [and ANOTHER car went by ;-) ]

There seems to be a little more traffic now than there was 15 or 20 minutes ago.

You're watching MSNBC instead of FOX? Incredible!

For those of us who do not have cable TV we can get MSNBC on the internet. I do not think Fox has an internet link.

I guess I saw something then.
It was just a blur from left to right
I thought you guys were kidding about the sound.
But I turned my volume all the way up,
and there are eerie sounds to go along with the eerie glow.
I guess now I have to watch this all night...
If I was over there I would probably have to moon everybody.

I'm with you. This Baghdad webcam is truly amazing.

I think you'll hear air-raid sirens first. They have air defense capabilities and should be able to give their citizens and soldiers a heads up.

I agreee. I just switched over to see Stormin Norman on PMSNBC. Fox just has Shep and Bill and all the hackneyed graphics with those little goofy helicopters 500 miles wide relative to their kindergarten map.

Aye, I think the chirping is the "squeal" from the low bitrate lossy audio compression. You can see traffic moving to the left but not the other lane

Could be. Less than 2 hours until twilight. Maybe we'll hear roosters.

I was just watching NBC. Big report on the boxer measure to prevent vote on drilling in Alaska. Next they have a story about bad the economy is and the fact that a quick and successful war will probably not do much for the ailing economy. Even had an economist from Goldman Sachs talking about just how bad it was. Seems I have read some stories about GS and the clinton years? Next they had a nice piece on the power of the Internet and what a great tool it is for war protesters. It was reported that in just three months the protesters have accomplished what it took three years to do during Vietnam. Did see a FR sticker on the guys desk visiting the "pro war" web site. Also, if you want to protest the war be sure to light a candle and place it in a window.

The time in Iraq is now Thu 4:26 AM.

Maybe they are on their way to work, or out of town.

Likely not to hear any aircraft at all; nobody's going in under 10,000 feet over Baghdad due to all the AAA.

Yep! I hear it too! A call to prayer!

This weirded me out when I was in Kuwait. Every day 5 times a day.
