earlier thread after O'Reilly reports:

Iraqi Republican Guards surrounding Baghdad have been given orders to use chemical warheads & artillery shells if US ground forces cross specific physical landmarks south of Baghdad.

Not permission, orders!

This comes from US Army radio intercetps of Iraqi Army, specifically Republican Guard transmissions

Ah... but they succeeded on Sunday, they have the American public growing depressed, because of a few casualties and POW's. This is WAR, and it means death of soldiers. There is no way around it. The media is so entrenched in their Viet-Nam era mentality, that they are singing the same old songs again. I just hope the American public will buckle up and ride it out. There will be many, many casualities in this war, on both sides. But, we WILL win, in the end. Losing is NOT an option.

Officials: Chemical Attack Fear Could Happen Near Baghdad

Well, better for the fear to happen near Baghdad than for that which is feared to happen. Headline writers can be such dopes. It should be "Officials Fear Chemical Attack Could Happen Near Baghdad."

>I like the 72 Virginians version best.

"I heard they read it wrong. It was 72 bowls of white rasins."

I heard it was seven teas and two urchins .

Note that the article says officials fear a chemical attack could happen, not that one will happen.

No, it says that officials say (:) that the chemical attack fear could happen near Baghdad, not that the chemical attack could happen.

hardeharhar. All I am saying is it looks to me like a reverse Trojan Horse -- instead of letting it in our own walls, we are about to swallowed by theirs. Hope I'm wrong. Really, really hope I am wrong.

you've got it -- though of course a siege entails basically the same dangers. Whatever he's hiding, Saddam just has to lure us close enough -- he has already shown an utter disregard for the rules governing other nations' conduct of war and has been most particular about developing so-called WMDs. He must want to use them ...

First, we get our ducks in a row.

Then one last massive leaflet drop over the city.

Next, we turn off the lights.

Finally, a massive MOAB attack on the surrounding Republican Guard.

Should do the trick.
