Mr. President,

I saw this picture today, and a chill went right through the very center of me.

You and Mrs. Bush stood surrounded by such strength and by such resolve, and so many beautiful faces; our sons and our daughters, our wives and our brothers, our fathers, and our mothers, with heads lowered in prayer.

I believe that you prayed for them because praying is what you do, and not what you wish to project, and because it is your strength and you daily guidance, as it is mine. I am grateful that a man who prays for guidance is here to lead our nation at times like these.

I have two beautiful faces of my own—two little boys—and as I looked across the faces in this picture, one made me pause; it was like looking into the future at one of my own. The features are set and resolute, lips clenched, eyes shut tight, determined, and looking so very young in his baby blue shirt. Then the thought struck me that if ever should come the day when the beautiful faces that I cherish are in a similar picture, that it is a man who prays for guidance, such as yourself, that’s there to lead them, and God-willing bring them all back safe and sound, to the warm, loving embrace of home and family.

Happy Easter to you and to Mrs. Bush, may God continue to bless America, guide us all through these troubled waters, and the ones yet to come.

Luis Gonzalez
Florida.

That was a wonderful card. We totally agree with the sentiments.

It brought tears to our eyes when President
Bush was speaking of how proud he was to be their Commander in Chief, and got tears in his eyes!!! This Commander in Chief.. KNOWS the sacrifices our troops are giving..and LOVES THEM. He is so awesome.

BTW.. I'm searching now to see if it was posted on FR.. but did you see where our forces took a Northern Iraq Airport? Honest to goodnes.. OUR TROOPS NAMED IT "BUSH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT".

That speaks VOLUMES!

Is that AWESOME or what?

Thank you for posting this and thanks for the ping. Your letter to our President just lifted me up....and like you, I received a chill when I was inspecting this pic for the first time on your thread.

It is beautiful, Luis. And tonight, I am going to pray that our President gets to read these words.

The international and domestic media cabal is throwing the Hail Mary passes right now Luis. Chiraq is losing control of his bowels, and Kofi's in curled up in the fetal position with the knowledge that his long standing corruption will be uncovered when we fumigate Saddam's little rathole. Putin's not feeling too good, the Turks are up shit creek and Schroeder is wondering if that MailBox etc. gig is still open.

They are going full tilt to try to force a U.N. mandated cease fire before we go in and get control of the yoke. They have to have it before we get the keys to the city. They are trying to save that regime by any means possible. Our media is shameless in their attempts to foment domestic unrest. All the old politician/generals who played cabana boy for Clinton are on the airwaves talking down our campaign and central command. Jesse Jackson has inserted himself into the equation to force a lull while he "visits" the POWs. They're throwing everything at the wall, and George Bush just steels his eyes and says "relentless" and ain't nothing gonna stick.

What a time to be alive. The Cold War alliances and institutions are crumbling to the ground. The socialist machine - it is on overdrive in every media outlet around the world, in the international instituitions, through scheming politicians in Europe and the Democrat Party, from the Vatican, Hollywood, junior high faculty and embittered discarded Army Generals - can't touch one resolute Texas boy and his talented and disciplined lieutenants.

It's a beautiful thing.

There a sense of history to all this, isn't there?

Of the old crumbling, and the new rising from its ashes.

Dammit but you gotta love this cowboy, and his straight and narrow ways that will change our world for a lifetime to come.

Look at that young man on the right, in the baby blue shirt.

Everytime I look at him, it's like looking long into the future at my oldest son.

His face, all those emotions, maybe even a little touch of fear, like he's convincing himself that he will carry out his mission no matter what.

He has a faith that humbles him Luis. Everything else blossoms from that: his discipline, his openess to counsul, his resolve, his courage, his patience and his determined energy. He's doing the right thing, he has the right people to plan and execute, he has the resources and bold spirit to leap to the challenge, he has the discipline to see his plan to fruition, and he has the grace to create a winning outcome for everyone involved. That's powerful, and our neighbors have an intuitive trust in his stewardship. The guy is becoming a hero to me, and I don't have many.

Luis,
It is indeed a comfort to know that prayer is such a large part of our president's life. I also think that God has answered our prayers by bringing GWB to the Whitehouse to guide our nation.

You may think I'm nuts, but when I saw these pictures during the campaign, I felt a sense of comfort. God and GWB have a strong relationship. For that I give thanks unto Him.

nopardons, isn't it uncanny throughout history how our country seems to be blessed to have the right person in the White House at the right time?

We are fortunate to have this President of our Republic is firmly anchored through faith, tenacious resolve and wisdom, and we are especially fortunate that this human being has the love and support of a wonderful wife, and a mother and father who understand his isolation and profound and lonely responsibility and emotional burden.

It blows me away. I know, too, that it is the fate of those POWs, especially that young single mom, that is breaking his heart amid what is otherwise a highly successful campaign. God bless him. It's hard to be the good guy in the show and have every selfish and soulless adversary wrongly paint you as the bad guy.

I did see that about the new name of the airport, this picture would look good painted on an entry wall to the place.

I used this picture for a while as my desktop background. One day I had a computer repair guy come to install a new system for me, and he must have been a democrat, cuz when he left I something totally different. LOL!

Beautiful letter, mi amigo. I hope that the President is receiving many such letters (though few will be so well-written) to lift him up at a time when so many are trying to tear him down. Thankfully, the counsel of the Lord matters more to him than the slings and arrows of small men.

I agree with ALL you say. It boggles the mind, that anyone could really believe what the mendacious, arrogant, perfidious lepers of the world , have and still ARE spewing, about President Bush. Thank GOD that he is our president now, now, when so many things that 8 long, weary, dreadful years of Clinton set in motion. Can you imagine the utter disaster, if he or gore were now president instaed ? GODless, soulless men, who preen and posture, are NOT who we need running this nation, at any time; but, certainly less so, in times such as these.

You know, it's been an amazing three years.

Three years ago, I was this uninterested, regular Joe out there trying to earn a living, and listening to NPR.

Then a little boy was fished out of the ocean on Thanksgiving Day.

Since then, I've written a letter to a Supreme Court Justice, a few to the president, hosted an internet radio show, marched with thousands protesting one president, and supporting another, and stood on a street corner in the pouring rain to show support for our troops.

It's a wonderful life, isn't it my friend?

Life IS wonderful, even with having to clean up the messes others have left behind. Now, aren't you happy that NPR is no longer part of your diet ? LOL

If Gore were President, there would be nothing materially different in our domestic security agencies, and doctrine of pre-emptive engagement from the status on September 10, 1991. We'd be chairing a U.N. security special counsel on international terrorism. Saddam would be humming along like he was on January 20, 2001. No inspections. Developing WMD. Smuggling oil and buying delivery technology from our pals and allies.

We'd have sued for an indictment of murder against Osama Bin Laden in the International Criminal Court. Hans Blix would be named to find UBL and serve him the warrant.

And ... we would have been hit again by Al-Qaida. Hard. We'd be talking about our Israeli policy and we'd lob some missiles at Kandahar and deploy some Airborne Rangers to Hang loose for a while in Italy for future orders.

We're damn lucky for the spectacular stupidity of Broward and Palm Beach Democrat voters.

Bless you, Luis, and thank God for giving our nation perhaps a last chance to awaken under this President's leadership as he turns ever to You for guidance.

Sounds about right, but you forgot to add that taxes would have been raised, a lot of ecoterroristic laws would have been tried to get passed, SUVs would be banned ( except for the " special " people ), and the Hollyweirdos would be celebrating.

Males one want to praise GOD every day, that we were spared this . :-)
