Iraqi Family Risks Their Lives To Save American Army POW

By U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Joseph R. Chenelly / 1st Marine Expeditionary Force
MARINE COMBAT HEADQUARTERS, Iraq, April 3, 2003 — New heroes have surfaced in the rescue of U.S. Army Pfc. Jessica Lynch.
Under the watchful eyes of more than 40 murderous gunmen, the 19-year-old supply clerk laid in Saddam Hussein Hospital suffering from at least one gunshot wound and several broken bones.
As her captors discussed amputating her leg, an Iraqi man leaned to her ear and whispered, "Don't worry." Lynch replied with a warm smile.
The man was already working with U.S. Marines to gain the critical information needed to rescue one of the first American prisoners of war in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Just a day earlier, the lawyer from An Nasiryah had walked 10 kilometers to inform American forces he knew where Lynch was being held. More

Hooray for this Iraqi man and his family. It helps us remember part of the reason why we're doing this.

Wow. Thanks for the ping. Great story.

We should get this guy's address. After the dust settles, maybe a new office for this lawyer is in order.

And so many people think the Iraqis hate us for this.

It was by Divine Providence (and the courage of Katherine Harris) that George W. Bush became our president at the right time in history. He has the character, judgment, and moral clarity to undue Clinton's damage and indeed make this a better and safer world.

In January 2002 in Ontario, California, his Town Hall address contained the word "evil" 19 times. I love that word. I love that he has the courage to use it. The left cannot stand the word. To them there are only fuzzy differences between right and wrong. Freedom for the people of Iraq is my idea of a good beginning of a new world order.

Yes, may God and the USA protect and care for this brave family. I do hope that they are spirited out of Iraq and offered US citizenship. Of course, they probably will also need to be protected from the Al Jazeera-watching Islamofascists in America as well. Witness Protection Program, most definitely.

I hate Islamofascists, not ALL Muslims. I do think that way too many Muslims are misguided by fanatical Imams and cultural opportunists who foment hate and violence against Israel and the West. Time will tell if the majority of Muslims are either Osama/Saddam/Arafat-type followers or are willing to live in peace with their non-Muslim neighbors.

Stories like this one and others from places like Kuwait & Afghanistan are hopeful that not all Muslims outwardly or secretly wish ill on me, my family, friends and fellow human beings who aren't Muslims. All Muslims who become, support or cheer on religious fanatics, Islamofascist terrorists and even secular ME dictatorships are the kind of people who revel in violence and want the entire world subjected to a blood-drenched jihad. They are fair game for my anger and revenge, IMHO. It's a matter of survival.
