(Irish Bodhran)

The one shown at this site is more rustic looking than DogRobber's drum.

I've been known to blow a mean tuba...

LOL. Me too, before I took up the pipes. OTOH, I once saw a bagpipe band marching with a tuba (and I do mean tuba, not sousaphone)! You're in...

I heard the LOTR bunch all wear skirts.

Does that help?

Okay, so far we have:

four pipes (WA, VA, FL & Iraq)
one bugle or drum
one bodhran drum
one snare drum / guitar
one mean tuba
one djembe drum
one 1st clarinet
spoons on Heine bottles / zydeco

This is shaping up to be one interesting band...

Nay, laddie. There's a wee bit o' diffairence 'tween a kilt an' a skirt. Call a skirt a kilt ye'll juist look stupit, call a kilt a skirt an ye'll get yersel' kilt. *\;-)

Sure does. That makes it:

four pipes + chanter (CA, WA, VA, FL & Iraq)
one bugle or drum
one bodhran drum
one snare drum / guitar
one mean tuba
one djembe drum
one 1st clarinet
spoons on Heine bottles / zydeco

These guys really don't look like "the Ladies from Hell" in the original meaning of the term. LOL!!! For those who don't know anything about Scots, in battle they were refered to as the Ladies from Hell.

Captain PBear is a piper for many years. His pipe master was the lead piper at the Kennedy funeral.

Angelwood, see #33. I consider this a challenge to the DC Chapter.

Actually it was the pipes themselves that were known as the "Ladies From Hell". The Germans during WWI were the first to use this term during a battle when the Scots came out of the trenches behind a piper and turned the tide. As the Germans said they "sounded like Ladies from Hell".

As a Scotsman by heritage I proudly own and wear a kilt, and own a wonderful collection of bagpipe CDs, plus a great video "The Ladies From Hell" which tells the history of the Highlanders and Pipes in battle down through the ages.

and own a wonderful collection of bagpipe CDs,

Unfortunately, all of my bagpipe music is on vinyl and I haven't a record player at the moment. *sigh* However, I do have Highland Cradle Song and the Skye Boat song downloaded on my PC.

As a Scotsman by heritage

I haven't proven my line of Hutchinsons is a sept of MacDonald of Sleat yet but I hope to. Doesn't matter though as I've loved Scottish history since I discovered the Stuarts at the age of 14 while eating history books from the library. (guess I was a weird kid!)
